The Emotional Test.

The mood drop. That critical point. I’m getting better at this. I’m talking myself out of it. I’m recognizing more and more how this happens. If I’m not doing something, my mood drops. I have a plan, though. Mind over matter, I say. I need food and jews. That’ll help. I know if I watch a movie, my mind will be elsewhere. That’ll help. There are things I want to write about. That’ll help. I could brainstorm for National Novel Writing month. Definitely. …Still need to pair my socks. *smiles*

It occurred to me recently how effective I am at multitasking. My exploits at Panera are well-documented. But consider this. If I’m at a diner and doing homework, I tear through it. Somehow the background noise focuses me. If I’m talking to Cliff, somehow I’m motivated to ignore him and read. I remember noticing a long time ago that if I bought some soda or a candy bar (or both) from one of the food-giving machines and then did my homework in the library, somehow, eating made me more efficient.

Thus, I cock my head. I’m on to something here, I say. If I associate homework with something else, I’ll get it done faster. Strange, but true. If I have my spanish book on my bed and say, “I’m going to do this now”, my mind will eventually wander and I’ll realize I’ve been sitting for five minutes staring off while numero seis still needs to be finished. Again, do it in the diner and I’ll tear through it. Kind of like how we all used to do our homework in other classes. It always went so fast, didn’t it? That rush, that desire to GOGOGO!

Anyway, food. I suppose there’s still The Daily Recap to do. Heh. I wonder what my record for entries in a day is…

i get work done better with background noise, too. if i’m on campus and i have work to do, i’ll go to the cafeteria, get some food, and plop down in the middle of the buzz. i daresay it helps me concentrate. sounds you’ve found coping mechanisms AND ways to help you wiht schoolwork. use them.

PENIS

Isn’t that the opposite of ADD? I’m much more efficient when I’m multi-tasking. For instance, I’m watching Vh1, reading entries and doing problems for the finance class.

You can multi-task??? Dude! I thought that was a woman thing. Oh well. Guess I’ve read Men/Mars/Women/Venus one too many times. I do better at multitasking too. I miss being in high school, I used to sit there and read a book with a dull roar in my ears. ‘Twas nice. I guess that’s why my current job works out so well. I work/slack off on the internet all day. But it looks like I’m working.
