Something to look forward to.

I’m posting a lot again. Probably hard for some to keep up.

Oh well.

Dad decided we should have a Family Picture. I really don’t care, I like pictures. Thus, I said, “Okay”. Wendi, on the other hand, hates having her picture taken, and sees this as yet another one of his crazy ideas. She is right, though. We agreed to this, yes, but he acts like such a spaz. He loves wearing the Penis Hat.

So, off to JCPenney. I’ll illegally proliferate the pictures once I get them. One set of the four of us, and one set with just Wendi and I. Dad was his usual rude self, with muttering under his breath that you can always hear. (Have I mentioned his tendency to mutter muslim terrorists completely at random? Though, I didn’t hear that out of him today.)

Lady who did our pictures was a bit commanding; she knows what she’s doing after five years of working there. Something funny. She asked how old I was. Then asked where I’m going to school. My computer affinity intrigued her. She asked whether I have an interest in photography.

She gave me an application and told me that they’ll need help over Christmas. …*smirks* My lucky day, eh? I was asked how I am with kids. Truthfully? I love kids, I’m just terrified I’ll break them. A little desensitization will rid me of that fear.

My sister’s moving. Again. Won’t be long now. I told her I’d take her out to dinner Sunday. (Tomorrow.) Don’t know when I’ll see her again.

*is amused by your father’s mutterings* reminds me of my friend david… that’s in the same program at school that i’m in… in class last year he used to mutter “witty” things… heh.

I’m just terrified I’ll break them. I think that way about everything.

It’s pretty hard to break a kid…You’ll do fine.

Let me give you some advice about kids, if you decide to take that job… Kids view all adults as authority figures. If you act outside of that expectation, they think you’re the coolest adult ever. Doing what they least expect makes them putty in your hands. Make fart noises, and blame them, say stupid things, and they’ll love you. Anyway, you have to drop them from a great height to break them.

i know a lot of people who have family pictures taken. my family is either too large to take such a picture, or there are so many of us, we just don’t care 🙂 xx

Following the “how to act around kids” train of thought.. Best word of advice I can give you is to treat them with respect. You and I both know how infuriating condescension can be….kids see everything, and they think a lot more than adults give them credit for. Just be sensitive, kind, and respectful, goof around with them, and they’ll love you to pieces.

That’ll be awesome. I tried to apply for an Olan Mills type place…but apparently I was too straitlaced (that’s what I got from my future boss/interviewer). Also…she used my jobs against me. “You worked at Waffle House? *laughs* I’m sorry….” ><
