We need a hero.
Earlier this day, I thought I had a lot to write about. Then I realized it wouldn’t take too long to say what I wanted to say. And, in reality, I could probably get each point out in a single line. Or a single paragraph. Or, rather, entire entries need not be written on each of the subjects.
I’ve taken to posting queued ideas in notepad. I haven’t done that since college.
After talking to a girl with a completely non-retail job, I concluded that if you’re responsible and dependable, you’re going to get abused.
Rather than ruin the generality of it, I shall leave it be and let everybody come to terms with it on their own. Because I could go on.
On to another obvious topic… It’s more acceptable in America to depict death and fear than it is to depict someone giving someone else pleasure. The result of glorifying violence and depressing sexuality is just that. This is a society based on violence. Stark contrast to our humble Canadian friends. (Not saying those humble Canadians couldn’t come kick our asses if they wanted to. They just aren’t violent.)
Why is a nipple more offensive than a Colin lying to the UN? Ahem, the United States gaining and subsequently losing most of the world’s support and respect is another issue entirely.
The jabber about GTA and The Sims makes me shake my head. It’s a sign of the times, I suppose. You can use your ho. You can kill your ho. But, lord no, don’t have sex with your ho! Sex is immoral! Now be good boy and kill twenty gang members.
This isn’t to put down GTA in any way. I love the game. I find it cartoonish. The game is clearly labeled for what it is. How stupid does the media think we are, that people are going to think a game called “Grand Theft Auto” is going to be about someone who accidentally steals a car? It’s insulting.
If you have to “hack” a game to “unlock” porn, hello, you’re violating terms of agreement, and as such, the company is not responsible for what YOU have introduced to the game.
Probably just another media hype to distract us from horrid foreign policy, I bet. It’s why I pretend I don’t pay attention to the news. It rots your brain. I prefer to just make mental notes of the overall “message”, and figure out the truth later. Then compare the truth with the message.
Makes me wonder when the world will get better. The 90’s was such a good time. And it’s not even like the world is all that bad. Crime is DOWN. Teenage pregnancy is DOWN. Oil prices are.. up. Well, they are.
I miss Bill Clinton. His personal life was as flawed as many other past presidents. If I were him, I probably would have done exactly as he did. Should you really admit you’re cheating on your wife when you’re the president? That’s the real ethical question.
I didn’t lose faith in our government until Bush was elected. In that time, I’ve been flabbergasted again and again how the administration spinned an agenda of evil as something of a good thing.
Not all governments have been this corrupt. Which brings me to my next tidbit.
- In 1850, I believe, the church property in the United States, which paid no tax, amounted to $87 million. In 1900, without a check, it is safe to say, this property will reach a sum exceeding $3 billion. I would suggest the taxation of all property equally.
— Ulysses S. Grant, from Rufus K. Noyes, Views of Religion, quoted from James A. Haught, ed., 2000 Years of Disbelief
Something I’ve never really given much thought to. Why is the church tax-exempt? It’s kind of funny, now that the church is state-sponsored, via the “faith-based initiative”. Well, not ha-ha funny. As freedom from religion goes, so goes freedom of religion.

I don’t think that witchcraft is a religion. I wish the military would rethink this decision.
— George W. Bush, earlier remark, June, 1999, to ABC News
Religious freedom and tolerance is a protected right. I am committed to the First Amendment principles of religious freedom, tolerance, and diversity.
Whether Mormon, Methodist, Jewish, or Muslim, Americans should be able to participate in their constitutional free exercise of religion.
I do not think witchcraft is a religion, and I do not think it is in any way appropriate for the U.S. military to promote it.
— George W. Bush, second remark, October 15, 2000, Web, White & Blue 2000,
Ahem.
I think that covers all on my mind, lest I go overboard. As for the conditioner, I’ll count everything up, as I took a shower yesterday and didn’t feel like taking one this morning. *smiles*
*continues after he already hits post*
I talked to Jeannine online for a bit this evening. She’s one of those friends I don’t talk to for months at a time, but whenever we talk, it’s fabulous. She’s great to have in my life because we went to through the same school system until high school graduation. She remembers what I was like. I remember her. So, we have nothing to prove to each other. Plus, she’s not up to date on my life like Carolyn is.
I love all the people that have come in and out of my life. But perhaps I should save that for another entry.
Interesting….. So, what conditioner won?? I myself prefer a nice light scent, like “Dove”.

Tax exemption of religions IS state sponsorship of religion; it’s just a clever way of doing it and looking the hero at the same time. But try and convince a fundmentalist christian today of that, and they’ll bleat on and on about how they’re “persecuted”. Every April 15th, I wish I was a little more persecuted viv-avis my taxes. The state doesn’t want to sponsor me. I don’t blame them.

I dont like Bush. Its a very simple statement that so many people will take overboard. “Sam you’re so anti-American.” Im NOT anti American. Im very patriotic. I love America. Im anti-stupid-people-in-important-positions. “Hes the president, you have to like him.” Like hell I do.The whole GTA thing makes me laugh, too. I found a funny thing about it… let me look for it…Samie’s

RYN: I thought you would find it amusing. “You are gazing into the pixels of moral decay.”

I miss Bill too, for all the shit he got he was a better president than George W. And besides, for a country that spends all its time demoralizing sex, we sure are interested in the sexual lives of those in power. Pardon me, but I don’t care who they sleep with, just don’t screw up the country! Maybe George should have an intern blow him, things might improve!

All of this stuff depresses me.

Yeah, our government needs help. Big time.

Some very good points. I didn’t lose faith when shrub became pres in 2000 mostly because I was mad at Al “Punk” Gore for giving up. The shady voting practices happen every election, so it wasn’t something that caused me to give up. But in ’04… America showed its true colors by actually voting for a genocidal, fundamentalist mad-man. You’re exactly right about our views on violence vs sex.

of course, as soon as there’s a school shooting involving middle class white kids, we point to video games and movies and decry the violence long enough to make ourselves feel better about the fact that we don’t actually watch or pay attention to our children.

RYNs: I don’t really feel the need for private entries, not yet, anyway, ’cause for the most part, I feel comfortable writing things in here, though I’ll throw the most personal stuff on friends-only. About the only stuff I haven’t written is the nitty-gritty sexual details, just ’cause I haven’t felt the need to write that anywhere. I have a hard time believing I’ll ever forget some things,

… things like the sounds he makes when he comes or what his come tastes like. Stuff like that, I think, is on the level of a first kiss or losing your virginity — I wouldn’t think I’d need to write it down, ’cause I can’t imagine not remembering it.
