Omen?

I just found my Amelie DVD that was lost in my room many months ago. It was on top of my suitcase in between some stuff. With a lot more stuff on top of it.

Ah, but I found it while I was looking for my Rutgers Almighty Undergrad book. An omen? Perhaps!

I haven’t even paid the bill and I’m thinking of what I do with myself. I won’t be at county for longer than a year. Frankly, county is a good thing. It’s cheaper, and it gives me a chance to make myself feel like I can own college. But after next spring, I’ll get myself into a four-year college and finish in two years or less. That’s my goal, regardless of what I end up “doing”.

For the record, I was looking for that Almighty Undergrad Book because I wanted to look at the Spanish program. Hey, it’s familiar.

Why do you want to go to college?

Go because you want to go. Not because your parents want you to go or your friends are going. Go to develop yourself and your mind, to meet friends, and to prepare for a career. Enjoy the process of becoming an educated person. Don’t just think about going to college, but also about why you want to go. Ask yourself if you have the ability to do college work. Then back up your answer with a review of your performance in high school-your grades, your attitude toward school work, your test scores. Unlike high school you can begin or finish college at any age. If you decide you are not ready to continue school, you can take a year off, go to work and perhaps attend college part time. Part of growing up is accepting the responsibility of knowing yourself. You’ll know when you are ready to further your education.

Oh man is that true. Timing is everything.

‘in bocca al lupo!’ 🙂

You notice how lackadaisical they are about attending college (which is true), but try being that lackadaisical about paying your tuition, and they turn into real hardasses.

*nods* precisely. i think it’s because you were basically being forced to go to rutgers that you did so rotten.

So true… ’cause I know I’m being stubborn about finishing my degree at my school although I don’t love it.
