Taking a breath.

It just wasn’t my morning. The baker put the asiago, cinnamon crunch, and dutch apple on the wrong sheets. Instead of using the normal white sheets, he used wax paper from line. This caused the bagels to stick like a motherfucker. It normally takes me three to five minutes to toss up all the bagels. An hour later, Jenny came in and I was still picking wax off the three offending racks of bagels.

Jenny made my morning by slicing bread for line for me. And doing fruit cups. Fruit cups only seem to be done when I open.

I just wonder how the store runs when I’m not there. I noticed we had an empty till. At quarter to noon. Okay, whose job is it to see that we all get tills? Not mine. Why the fuck am I noticing this? Our lunch rush hits and where are our managers? Outside the back door. I wonder if Mike has any idea what happens in his store when he’s not there. By that point, I was just glad I was counting my drawer so I could go home.

Okay, it wasn’t that bad. I perked up after my break. It’s just funny. I notice shit. Dirty tables. Crumbs, in many places. Sam told me to just be a manager. Half the time, people treat me like I have some sort of authority. The other half, hey, I’m just like everybody else.

So Becky rang up a lady for eight bagels. And it just so happens that 8 bagels costs more than 13 bagels. (baker’s dozen) This is why I like having the manager’s card on me. I was able to refund her on the spot and charge her 6.99 for a baker’s dozen, without having a fetch Angie. If I wasn’t walking right behind her at the time, Becky might have gotten chewed out.

I considered getting wasted tonight. Or at least hitting White Castle. Funny how my vodka cravings go hand in hand with my jalapeno cheeseburger cravings.

On a completely unrelated note, the Audioslave song “Be Yourself” is my song of the moment.

I went to Erik’s and relaxed on his couch before we went to fetch Ashley. Fritz (the cat) was walking towards his car, so we took him with us. He spazzed out, as expected, but could have been a lot worse. I remember when I took Arlene on road trips, it took her a good hour or two to calm down. We dropped Fritz off, to ensure he was okay, then dropped Ashley off at work, and then visited the Church residence.

We ended up having a LAN WarCraft III game. Unfortunately, my consciousness was fading rapidly by that point. I endured past the point of Erik realizing he had to pick up Ashley from work. I played some Dynasty Warriors with her until I realized I couldn’t even focus my eyes on the screen. I put down the controller and passed out. *smirks* I REFUSE TO SUBMIT TO SLEEP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY!

I forget the logic, but Erik and I left Ashley at his house while we went to fetch Liz. By the time we got back to his house, we had to take Ashley home. Erik’s low on both cash and gas, so I was driving by that point. We ate some food Erik’s parents made, and then watched Team America: World Police. It had its moments, but I think it was a horrible movie. It’s goes so far that I can almost see a neo-con getting into it, thinking that’s how the world should be run. That thought scares me.

I think I passed out again before the movie ended. Oops. Hey, I can stay up late, I just never said I could stay up without passing out a little. *smirks* If I’ve been up since 4:30 AM, I mean.

It felt like I was just hanging out with them not too long ago, but it turns out it’s been a while. So Erik and Liz claim. I’m with them when I’m not working and… Yeah. I work a lot. The days blur together.

I drove Liz home aannnddd.. here I am. I have work at noon. I may have to be the man tomorrow if Barbara calls out again. Mike was saying that Nelson is off next week so (Melissa or) I may get some time on line during lunch. I make mental notes of these things, you see.

I’ll go play The Political Machine.

h…HA. come in at noon? i said, “i’d prefer not to come in now…” he said, “ok… then how about two?” i was fine with that. see i would have come in at noon if i thought i’d actually be given a BREAK. i know the way the managers work things. i never get breaks.

Associates came to me for authority before I was manager too. After almost ten months of fighting (with the occasional bitch and moan) I got promoted. You’ll get there. You definitely deserve it.

White Castle is some SICK ass shit. However, if you love it… then there has to be SOMETHING good about it. 😉 Sorry, I just had to be your pain in the ass for the day. ::SMOOCH::
