I’m doing the best I ever did.

Again I came in psyched to learn line. First I discovered that I wasn’t scheduled for another two hours. Mike told me to come in at noon last Wednesday. Apparently, Angie needed me anyway, so I stayed.

Unfortunately, she told me to count out a drawer. *shrugs* Can’t leave Trish out to dry. I’m one of the few competent people, aside from her, and I’d rather she not stab herself out of hatred of her job. *smirks*

I cut bagettes fast for Erik, giving me the illusion that I was on line.

For once, I wasn’t on bakery side. Normally I clean everything up and stock throughout the day. Today, I refused. I refuse to cover for everybody else. Instead, I stuck to cafe side and did my own damn job. I let Adam hang out to dry in bakery. He’s been here too long to not be able to know shit about bakery. Seriously. So fuck it. I’m not doing everything anymore.

Speaking of not doing everything, I did eventually help out on line. If I had more time to make more things, I could have learned. Instead, I simply got a feel for reading the damn screens. At one point, Anyi went in the back to get something. (Erik was on break.) Mike just happened to be there, and he joked, “First day on line, and you’re by yourself. Good job!”

And then Suzanne (the closing manager) asked me to close dishes. *laughs* That, I don’t mind. I like doing dishes. It means avoiding customers. It means rocking out to Godsmack. Really need to bring my own CDs in. For effect, I wore Cliff’s nametag.

After I finished all the dishes for the night, I came up front and finished closing bakery for Natasha. It was her first night closing bakery, and she was openning the next morning. Grr, Natasha isn’t stupid, she’s just. Too perfect, sometimes. I’ve learned which corners you can cut to get the same job done. Techniques for closing on time, that is. Doing shit in advance. Damn language barrier, it’s hard to explain things to her.

Basically, Suzanne would have been fucked without me today. *laughs* She’s expecting somebody to call out tomorrow, so she asked me if I could work tomorrow. I told her about the court date Erik, Liz, and I have. I’ll come in and help through lunch, but I have to be out of there around 2.

Oh. I was knocking down one of the boxers of garbage bags, and it happened to knock loose one of the soda hose thingies. And it sprayed everywhere. That set me back on dishes at least ten minutes. Suzanne would have been a lot madder if she didn’t think I would clean it up.

*strokes goatee*

Hard to explain why I like my job. I’ve contemplated whether I’d ever agree to being promoted to shift supervisor. I’ve seen how much they get abused. I’ve joked that as soon as I mastered everything in the store, I’d quit. We’ll see. Plenty of other things out there I could master that would actually be useful.

I’d wash the dishes if I could rock out to Godsmack! ~Random Noter~ ~Kadey~

I pretty much left Target when I mastered things. Heh. When I first used to close and open Food Avenue it took hours. Going by the book dies pretty fast when FA closes at 9 and you’re still there at 11 doing shit. Pfft. Lol. At the end I got it down to 30 minutes. Those were the days….not.
