Thank you for licking my balls.

In the spirit of proving that I still “got it”, I set out to fix my parent’s printer. Meaning, I had to convince the installation software to install. I did my usual manual cleaning of the hard drive for all A940 software, and then manually cleaned the registry for all A940 references.

I swear, cleaning the registry just isn’t that dangerous.

Unfortunatey, this was all in vain as I ended up exactly where my mom did. There were two specific errors. One, that the printer spooler wasn’t on, and something about the RPC service. To the first I thought, “Uh, that’s because it isn’t installed yet.” To the second, “Why would you need a Remote Procedure Call for the fucking printer?”

Always my fallback, I plugged some things into google. Quickly, I found other people bitching about Dell. I sorted past the bitching to see if anybody actually had any constructive advice. Ah! Advice. Go into Administrative Tools, then services, and .. set the printer spooler from manual to automatic. How quaint. Same for the RPC, and, well, some other thing that I can’t remember.

I tried to install again and the program started licking my balls. Mmm. I printed a test page saying, “I am a happy printer.” A billion outsourced Indians can’t do what a half-Indian in America can do.

Well, I always was good at software-related glitches. Pray I can get Roxanne up and running.

the only other suggestion I can make about your fan problem would be to try different molex connectors, and see if they wake up the fans. If so, maybe you have bad power supply? Hardly seems likely, but not impossible, either. As for the CPU…are you sure you have the motherboard power connector firmly seated? That seems unlikely, as well, but what you have is truly puzzling. You DID check that

the power supply is set to 120 volts, and that you have the cord properly seated in the Power supply, right? I know this all sounds basic, but your problem is so odd it almost sounds like you’re missing something eally obvious.
