Grinding.

I finally went to Midas with my dad this morning to get the brake pads replaced. Well, I know that’s what it’s going to end up being, I just hope the drum isn’t also shot as a result of me waiting so long.

My dad tried to give me a guilt trip for waiting so long. Excuse me, but I’m never around and/or awake when you are. I really haven’t had the chance. The brakes were the furthest thing from my mind whenever I get in late at night. The grinding noise has lasted about a week? *shrugs*

He asked if I’d made enough money to cover it. I said no, which is a half-truth. I have three dollars in my account. Or was it three and a half. Or two and a half. Anyway, I have my last paycheck that I haven’t gotten around to putting in the bank. So I have the money – but I don’t. One paycheck of over three hundred dollars should be able to cover brake pad replacements, no? I really don’t know shit about cars. I know basics, but can’t be bothered to learn much more. I can change a flat tire, change the wiper plades, change the oil and oil filter, etc. I don’t see what else I need to know.

Or so I tell myself. *laughs* I’m just typically not fast on my feet. All I care about cars is that they go, stop, and turn. And maybe have heat when it’s &@#$%#$ cold out.

I don’t know why he keeps suggesting IHOP. I can’t stand that place, partly because of him. For some reason, even though I’ve enjoyed the food before, whenever I imagine IHOP, I get a horrible taste in my mouth. The first time I went to that IHOP was with my friends. The time they had that unlimited pancake promotion. Cliff was on his last plate and about to take a bite when the busboy came over and stole his plate. …*laughs* Anyway, I typically don’t eat in the morning, so I have zero interest in eating there. I don’t need the grease THIS early.

I should mention that Midas and Panera are both a couple minute walk away from where I live, albeit in opposite directions. It’s also cold as fuck outside. Glad I had my Nintendo hoodie on under my leather jacket. You lose a LOT of heat through your head, you know. Timmy = Smart Diddley.

Addendum: Brake pad replacement plus drum smoothing plus labor = ~250 So they claim. Hey, if I wanted to show up my dad, I could wait until Monday and pay for it myself. If I wanted to, but why would I do a thing like that? I don’t need to “win”.

Addendum: Rather than get up even earlier and be at Midas by 7:30, I find it much more useful for me to simply WALK to work. I hate dealing with the post-fix bullshit. Takes forever.

Bleh, I hate my dad.

panera… ummmmm

I’ll take some Waffle House any day. 🙂

Brake pads themselves aren’t that much, maybe $40. But labor, man, they’re gonna charge an arm and a leg. I’m so glad Timmeh does all our car stuff, I cringe at the thought of paying a mechanic.

The brake cost depends on how much they needed to do. Mine came out to almost $500 one time. *cringe* Hope your’s isn’t that bad.

just remember IHOP= Syrup Hussys!

January 7, 2005

First and foremost: I really like IHOP.There was one right down the street from my high school, and my friends and I used to ditch all the time to go eat there.I like their hash browns, and fake strawberry syrup crap.Every time I go to another restaurant and order strawberry pancakes, they COOK the strawberries with the batter!Yuck Yuck Yuck…

…But anyway.. about your brakes…It’s good you only waited a week because my roommate waited OVER A MONTH and it ended up costing him $780.One of his brakes was grinding, and because he waited so long the other brakes had to compensate. It was horrible. It had to get all the brakes replaced. We went in there thinking it’d be around $200…

January 7, 2005

Ugh.It’s just not good to wait with things like that.

January 7, 2005

Mmmm… now I want some pancakes.DAMN YOU TIMMY!

Awww

I went to Midas to get my brakes looked at a few months ago. The ended up doing about $450 worth of work. Yeah… Not cheap.

IHOP is the ass of restaurants. That place is nasty. But I do want pancakes now…

The screeching noise is a little tab ON the brake pad that is meant to give a signal to the driver that it’s time to change the brakes. If it has only been a week or two, your rotors should be fine. Break pads are pretty easy, too. They just sort of pop in and pop out. You need a special tool, but you can buy that anywhere. You’re looking at 100 bucks, max. —

Whenever I’m in the States, I’m in an IHOP. Tasty Tasty.

“Bleh, I hate my dad.” Wait– what happened? (E-mail?)

“I consider being on my feet all day enough exercise. Going to gym is superfluous.” But at my new job I’ll be sitting my ass all day, so the excersize is a must.I don’t usually talk like this. But when you wake up one day and realize you are FAT fat… It’s time to take some action.

Oh, and thank you.::blushes::

Compared to the midwest – where I’m from – prices are really outrageous here. I had a plumber fix an outside faucet (had to solder/unsolder one connection) and put a check valve in the sump pump. $517 for less than an hour’s work and maybe $30 worth of parts at Home Depot. My doctor charges less than that (but he doesn’t make house calls). T

Yeah, I HATE exercising too.But unless this weight is going to melt off me in the night [and I wish it would!] I have to do something.

Hahaha, down with IHOP. I don’t much care for the place either.

January 8, 2005

I like IHOP. But then again, I’ve only eaten there like 3 times. My mom’s fried does all our car work. So we pay him for parts but he REFUSES to let us pay for labor….So we just bring him food and beer and stuff.I love hoodies. They keep my big fat head warm heh.Samie’s
