NoJoMo 5

One of today’s NoJoMo prompts asked if I was an introvert or an extrovert.  That’s an interesting question – I always thought of myself as an introvert, but as I’ve gotten older I guess my confidence has increased, because I find myself exhibiting more extroverted behaviors.  I still have moments where I want nothing more than to be a hermit, but the truth is I don’t think I could survive long if I truly was entirely on my own; I’ve learned that I need a certain amount of social interaction in order to maintain my sanity.

So I guess the answer is, I don’t know.  I’m not nearly as shy as I once was, but I still do prefer to simply be alone (or do things alone) some of the time. I guess I’m both introverted and extroverted, depending on the circumstances.

It’s funny that a lot of people on here think that I’m an extrovert because I sing in public, but really I’m an introvert that does silly things sometimes… and maybe that’s just having an “I don’t care” attitude that comes with with age as you mentioned?

Def think it’s probably some of the confidence that comes with age and experience. While I am undoubtedly an introvert…I can be extroverted in certain situations. Does that make sense?? And moreso the older I get. 🙂

I think it’s a misconception that introverts don’t like people. I consider myself an introvert and I do like to be around people — sometimes. I’m not shy, I just find social interactions with a lot of ppl to be taxing. It takes my energy. Introverts, as opposed to extroverts, don’t feed off of the energy of other ppl. I CAN be social, I just don’t like to be that often. 🙂
