Friday
Yay! It’s Friday! Actually I’m feeling a little blah today, but I’m glad tomorrow is Saturday because that means DH will get up with the kids and let me sleep in. Whee!
I hate to say it, but I think I’m coming down with a cold. I’ve been super stuffed up the last two days, and last night every time I rolled over (which I do frequently at night, though it doesn’t always wake me up) I had a wave of dizziness that was pretty rough. I hope it doesn’t indicate an ear infection 🙁 I did manage to get up when the alarm went off at 6:15 this morning and go for a "run" on the treadmill (I don’t know why, but the treadmill feels like cheating – I really need to start running outside again).
Speaking of working out, this week I decided that the Couch to 5K program wasn’t doing enough for me to increase my overall fitness level so I tried adding the 30 day shred. That lasted for three whole days – yesterday we were crazy busy and by the evening I wasn’t feeling well, so I didn’t force myself to do it after the kids went to bed, and today I just can’t be bothered to change back into workout clothes and do it. I’ll admit I was a little discouraged this morning when I got on the scale and saw that I’ve lost nothing this past week – I’m using the Weight Watchers online app to track my food and had been doing a pretty decent job this week, plus the regular exercise, but I didn’t even lose part of a pound this week. I guess I need to drink more water and eat more vegetables, sigh…
I went to see a church yesterday where I might be able to hold my new CC program in the fall. I loved it! They have exactly the layout we need for classrooms (plus a nursery), and it’s a small church so there aren’t any other programs there during the week. The pastor is going to discuss it with his staff, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will work out. I’m almost officially a director now – I’ve had my background check, written a bunch of essays, and had an interview, so as soon as I go through CC’s Director Business Training (probably in March) I’ll sign a contract and be official. I know running a new group might be a little stressful, especially the first year, but I think I can handle it. Plus I’ll be making a little money of my own, which will be nice – not that DH isn’t incredibly generous, but it will be nice to be able to plan for things like Christmas gifts and so forth without taking it out of the budgeted monies in our joint account.
I’m going ice-skating tomorrow night with a friend. I’m hoping that qualifies as cardio enough to get me through the weekend 🙂 Next week I start Week 7 of the Couch to 5K program – I’ve repeated two weeks thus far because I wasn’t ready to move on, and Week 7 is kind of a big deal (20 minutes of running with no walking break), so hopefully I can do it!
Very impressed with your running! I’m doing a similar program to the Couch to 5k but I’m still waaaay at the beginning, and being sick has set me back. The most I’ve run continuously is 3 minutes at a time, 20 sounds so far away! I was impressed with myself when I ran 15 minutes out of 30, I guess I’ll be really impressed when those 15 minutes are continuous, hu? =)

I really hate how they push exercise for weight loss. Exercise is great for motivating weight loss, but it won’t make you lose weight. Diet is what will make you lose weight. That is the greatest percentage of weight loss success. And not saying this is you, but a lot of people fall into the trap of thinking they’ve done this or that exercise, so can have a little extra this or that…That line of thinking never turns out good 🙂 But hang in there, you’re doing all the right things so just keep going. Your body is loving it! x

Ice-skating! That sounds awesome. How’d it go? I want to make a trip down to Lush before v-day to get some things for Rob and don’t have anything going on this Friday. (Yes, he loves Lush, too lol!) Are you free at all that day to grab a cup of tea or lunch or something?
