Someday I will write again…

Today, just tidbits.  The day has gotten away from me, I can’t believe it’s already 5pm!

  • I’m enjoying our Classical Conversations experience this year, and thinking of starting my own group next year.  Actually more than thinking – I’ve put in my application and started looking for locations (I’ve found one that’s ideal, just waiting to see if they’d let us use classrooms for a reasonable charge – keep your fingers crossed for me!).
  • I don’t think I wrote much about all the drama surrounding the Geek Girls meetup.com group that I’m a member of, but it resurfaced this week a little – and ended up with me becoming the Organizer for the group.  This is a good thing, as the last Organizer was a bit of a drama queen and things got out of hand for a while in December.  Hopefully I can help the group get back to its original purpose, namely to have fun and make friends and not get caught up in legalese and drama.  Our original founder was great at that, but she moved to San Diego with her husband (he’s in the Navy) last summer.
  • DH’s 40th birthday party (can’t remember if I wrote about that at all!) was a great success.  His parents came up for the party, and gave us a very generous Christmas gift – but they never gave DH so much as a card for his birthday, which was odd.  Oh well.  In other news, his mooch of a sister got a new car thanks to her daddy.  He says she’s going to make the payments on it, but she was also supposed to make the mortgage payments on the house he bought for her and she’s never done that, so we’re not holding our breath.
  • Ricky (our big black lab) ate $60 worth of dolls last week, which led to (1) me learning about the wonders of the American Girl Doll Hospital (way cheaper than buying a new one, thank you very much!) and (2) the installation of an additional baby gate so now the dogs are entirely locked in the kitchen unless we are in the room to supervise.
  • I’m making this for dinner tonight and it smells amazing.

A Geek Girls group sounds really fun! I’m glad you can be the Organizer now.. I’m sure you’ll do a good job! … bad dog. Baby gates are magic! We’ve used those so much with our pets.

Lots of excitment! Happy birthday to your husband! And I hope you have lots of fun running your Geek Girls group. I think you’ll be a very successful organiser!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who goes so long between entries.

I wish I lived in a bigger city to try out more meetup groups. I did one, once, when I lived in Maryland but it didn’t click with me. It was a hiking group and I wasn’t terribly into it, so maybe that’s why. Still, I envy those able to form groups like that! I’m so awful at making and keeping friends. Still hoping to get down to ATL soon; will definitely touch base with you before planning a trip so we can see each other!
