Angels all around us

I work with angels

I’m blessed everyday to be in the company of ANGELS. I consider all my caregivers to be true angels here on earth. “You will be rewarded in Heaven for what you do here on earth”. I tell them.

Dementia patients truly can be the hardest patients to care for but the rewards out weigh the hardship. I can’t wait to get to work and care for all my grandpas and grandmas. I treat them as if they were my family. Many of my patients think I’m their daughter or granddaughter and that’s ok for me.

A couple of days ago one of my angels came to get me. “Mr. Smith doesn’t look right, come right away”. The caregiver was correct and Mr. Smith was leaning to the left side, and non-responsive to my verbal commands. It appeared that he was having a TIA (small stroke) we got him more comfortable. Knowing that he was a DNR and on hospice, I did not call 911. I did call his family and his hospice nurse and informed them of Mr. Smith’s change in condition. By the time I returned to see my dear friend he was laying in bed, still non-responsive. I peered closer to check his pupils when all of a sudden his eyes opened wide and he said “YOUR IN DANGER”! I jumped back, in surprise; I was much relieved that he came through the TIA. I thought I was going to lose him. I asked him why I was in danger. “My wife is dead, he said”. With a bewildered look, I told him I was sorry. “ThatÂ’s ok, now I have you”.–he was rubbing my arm a little to affectionately if you know what I mean. I laughed, and told him he was back to normal.

Oh what a relief, he was back to his old horny self again.

I do love him and I’m happy to have him under my wing again.

thats scarey.

Ohmygod when you said he opened his eyes and said your in danger my first thought was how that would have freaked me out. When you said he was back to his horny self I had to laugh.
