LAKELAND VILLAGE-pic heavy
I’m getting so addicted to digital scrapbooking. I have hundreds of elements, textures, word art frames, digi paper you name it I have it. Don’t ask me how much I have spent on this new endeavor I’m on. It is more cost effective to computerize your layouts because unlike paper products you can only use them once but with digi scraping the sky is the limit. You can even upload your layouts to Shutterfly and have beautiful books made. I’m working on a book for my Uncle Victor using pictures of our Lakeland Village family gathering.
There has always been Lakeland village as far as I can remember. My uncle bought the lake property decades ago. I remember when I was about 7 years old camping there overnight and sleeping next to the fire on a chase lounge chair all cuddle up in an old army mummy sleeping bag. I would gaze out at the UNIVERSE trying to find evidence of spacecrafts Oh god, I just remembered how me and my cousinswho I happen to have some serious hard crushes on– much older of course and off limits but when youre that age you dont really know its wrong. Well anyways these older cousins of mine would take the willing relatives out on the old row boat and hunt for frogs the big bull frogs. The old net would capture too many for me to count. It was fun sneaking around when our parents thought we were next to the fire passed out. We were just being kids dipping our feet into some mischief and it was tantalizing to say the least.
When we got back to the lake property, I thought we would release the frogs back into the water So I thought. That was a big surprise. I fall back into my mummy bag and started to have the best nature induced euphoric sleep, hearing the sounds of nature of the night is better than any sleeping pill, the last thing a remember before falling asleep was a conversation I heard from one of my older cousins
NOW ITS TIME TO TAKE THE PAJAMAS OFF THE FROGS.
I didnt realize that we would be eating the frogs legs for breakfast the next morning. They told me it was fried chicken.
Eventually my uncle built a house on his property and the home owners associations banned overnight camping i.e.: teepees and tents. No more camp fires either. So that was the end of the weekend camping trips with the relatives.
We still gather as a family for Easter and the End of summer party.
Sadly, this year my uncle is in poor health and is planning on moving to a retirement home. He is selling his house on the lake. Its such a beautiful lake and is stocked with a plentiful supply of fish. There are so many fish in this lake that you see them jumping all over the place. It saddens me so much I have tears streaming down my face. I feel like Im losing a best friend, losing apart of my life sold for the highest bid.
