Making memories

LAKELAND VILLAGE

Every year my big and I mean “Catholic BIG” family collides together for our annual summer picnic at my uncle’s house. He is my dad’s brother. I must say here that when I look at my uncle I can see my father right through him. This brings me much comfort, I can really feel my daddy’s spirit beaming right through my uncles eyes and gestures.

We have been communing at his property and now house at LakeLand Village for almost 35 years. As a young girl, we would camp at his lake property in tents, or sleep with our faces to the moon and stars, while the boys would sneak out at night at catch frogs for our frog leg breakfast in the morning.

Cherished memories now

In past times, my uncle would capture these memories with his fondness for slide pictures. He joyfully took slides of my sisters, cousins, kissing cousins, adoptees, the list of people could go on and on. He has hundrends of these slides for our viewing pleasure but unfortunately he had a bad, very bad habit of not taking too many close ups. Groups of people in the far distance doesn’t make for an enjoyable slide show.

I’m the one now who carries the torch of the “slide show productions.” I love taking pics of people, I have learned that people like close up pictures including me. The closer the better. Forget the landscape pics it’s all about the people you love-this matters the most- so takes a ton of pics of them. Someday they will be long gone, but you will have many pictures to cherish.

I used to scrapbook my pics but now my latest hobbie is digital scrapbooking. I have many scrapbooks that are just sitting collecting dust in my scrapbook room. Now, I have decided to make my own slide shows using my PRO GOLD software. The slide shows have music, transitions, motion effects, video, captions. I burn the slide show onto DVD’s. So now, instead of sitting in a dark room trying to get an old projector to work, fix the slides which are upside down, I just put the dvd into the player and everyone gathers around the tv. Fun, Fun, fun!

I can’t wait until these girls are older so they can enjoy looking at themselves at Lakeland Village 20 years in the past.

Take 1

Take 2

Take 3

Now I must get off OD and go back to making my lastest slide show production THE LAKE

You have a great eye. I love taking portrait style photos, too. So often they capture the essence of the person we care about. I’ll bet you’re having a lot of fun putting together your digital scrapbooks, too.

I love the way they are all crossing their legs like grown ladies! Too cute!

Twenty years from now you’ll HAVE to pose them in exactly the same poses! What a cool gift for each of them, huh? Then and now. They are beautiful girls and look at the personalities! Wow.
