SNOW LAKE ADVENTURE WITH A TWIST
******SNOW LAKE******
Last week I had an inkling to hike up and down to Snow Lake. A beautiful “Swiss like” alpine lake at Snoqualmie Summit. Snow Lake is exactly that, fed by a pure snow pac. I have had the pleasure of hiking to this lake last year by myself which was truly wonderful. This time around BB and Kev joined me on the hike with doggies in tow. What I should really say is the doggies towed us up the mountain. Snow Lake is an intermediate hike which is 7 miles r/t a total of 4.5 hiking hours.
MY TIME OF SOLITUDE
It was a arduous hike with countless switch backs and throngs of people–city people! City people who really don’t have any business tromping up such a trail. I was aghast to see a young women cradling a small infant, city slickers talking on their cell phones, mothers trying to push strollers. Freaking out of their minds city slickers
Big note to self: NEVER HIKE TO SNOW LAKE DURING A HOLIDAY WEEKEND There is nothing worse than having to hike behind a mob of people who are engrossed in a deep conversation which you are privy to hear. Hiking is about experiencing nature, not having to listen to *chit* I really don’t care to hear.
Finally made it up to the lake and had a lite lunch, didn’t realize how nasty these little mosquitoes can be hordes of them descended upon my bare flesh. I was prepared for these guys, and wore pants and a long sleeve shirt, but no, no these guys want blood and they want my blood . I got bit too many times to count on my face and hands, scratch, Scrath, and SCRATCH literally for days after the hike.
I threw in the towel with these critters and decided it was best to head back to our cabin. I didn’t make it very far and twisted my ankle on a rock. You see my dog wanted to go one way and I wanted to go the other way, hence my foot twisting on an avalanche rock…talk about nauseating pain!!!
Now this is the part where you are welcomed to feel sorry for me
I had to walk back down the trail 3.5 miles with an injured foot.
I told myself it didn’t hurt
Back in civilization, I went to my doctor to see about getting an x ray. Walking is my livelihood! She told me It was a sprain and ordered the x ray and a walking cast. She told me no more hiking for 6 weeks.
*insert crying right here*
While waiting for my xray (people remember to always carry your insurance card, if you don’t you will have hell to pay, well at least I did) I noticed a big poster hanging up in the Lobby advertising the big Rattlesnake hike coming up on July 16th
*insert bigger tears here*
Take care of that foot! I am envious of where you live though.

The pictures are beautiful and I’m sorry about the dumb city slickers who have no business interferring with nature like that. I hope your ankle heals quickly.

Oh my gosh, how beautiful! Great photos, I’m jealous of where you live. Yikes, you should have tied the dogs together and rode ’em back to the car, they’d never have noticed you, you tiny woman. I hope your foot heals quickly but go ahead and milk it for all its worth :-P~

You had to walk 3.5 miles on a sprained ankle? Oh no! You poor thing. I can understand your love of hiking when you live so very close to what must surely be Heaven.
Warning Comment
It could have been broken. Then you would not be hiking for probably 6 months. Count your blessings!!

Gorgeous photo’s – Incredible scenery! But what awful luck. Well, don’t push it and hike too soon. Give yourself good medical advice 😉
Warning Comment
Hey! You probably parked right in front of my cabin! The trailhead is at the end of our road. Are YOU the one who blocked my driveway??? People die on that trail. Every other year someone slips and falls.

awwwwwwwwwwww….sorry about your injury. We recently went all the way (800 miles) to TN so we could take the dogs hiking in the mountains…

this city slicker would have just slowed you down cause she’s out of shape.
