A HUNTING THEY SHALL GO-with graphic pic
Yep, that’s a duck, don’t know what kind of duck but Kev was more than happy to have shot it. I know he will be very proud of this picture-his first hunting pic.
Yuck! I wasn’t to thrilled about the boys going hunting with their father and their mother wasn’t too keen on the idea either-visioning her babies playing with guns. She tried her darnest to cancel the trip and threw Kev a curve ball if he didn’t get a good grade on his book report there would be no hunting trip. Needless to say,
Kev managed to get a passing grade and was allowed to go-much to the DISTRESS of his mother. We were both worried why can’t these boys be boys forever-but over night they seem to turn into young men. Maybe this hunting trip was a right of passage–
I watched the kids pack their back packs, clean their guns and there were many: 12 guage shot gun, 20 guage single shot, (2) 22 rifles, and a 30-06 rifle which belong to my father, my mother honored it to BB stated it was for her 6th Son-in law–well almost. It felt like Christmas in the frenzy of preparing for the trip. The kids trying on their new hunting coats and ducks unlimited hats even baby TUCK donned a new hunting camouflage collar.
sigh, what mother and “so called mother” (me) would want their children going hunting. I wouldn’t be able to watch over them like only a mother could. Reminding myself they are turning into young men, albeit, young minded men. Worrried all weekend–thank God baby sis stayed to keep me company. When I did try to call and check up on the kids, The cell reception was horrible I was able to piece some words together like “shooting off mortars-than lots of static and than nothing–just dead air.
GULP
They all came back in one piece well almost, the duck never came back because baby tuck got a hold of it and thought it was his play toy.
The MEN had a wonderful time with memories tucked away in their hearts-to think back upon when they are old and gray and rocking in a chair.

love the background. yes, i would worry worry worry, too. we’ve never had the hunting love in our family, neither side. though i DO agree with you that it is a right of passage for some families. Tuck’s a cutie. Glad you had a nice time with sis.

my ex-husband hunted duck. our chocolate lab, sam, didn’t like them moving in his mouth, so he always spit them out on the way back from retrieving. many wounded ducks got away that way. and i never understood the hunting of them. they tasted icky. mud ducks. now who would eat a mud duck?

I support hunting..if I didn’t my complete family would disown me. I am quite impressed with your knowledge of guns. I used to have a semi-automatic 22. My parents made us all take a gun safety course

Testosterone tradition! LOL!

I’m not big on hunting just for sport, but it definitely is a “right of passage” type thing. Kev definitely looks proud as does Tuck, so what can you say?

I’m glad the guys had a good time, but I’m equally glad you gave ample notice about the graphic photo so I could scroll right by it without looking too close. Looks like a nice pic for sure, but I didn’t look too close. 🙂 I went hunting once. Squirrel hunting. It killed all interesting in hunting ever again ….

that would be a DEAD duck *snicker* 🙂

I would ay that it looks like it is a female mallard…And the background looks like where I live..Hunting is a right of passage, and also a bonding expierience between father and son…

I have fond memories of playing bird dog for my grandfather’s pheasant hunting. I can’t decide if that photos looks more like where I’m from or where I just passed through to get where I am now. Though they’re basically one and the same.

*checks profile* Or you’re north of both. Probably should have done that first.

I think it’s a male bonding thing
