DRIP CASTLES

This is a copy of a painting by one of my favorite artist– STEVE HANKS. I’m a proud owner of several pieces of his work albeit, not rich enough to buy original water colors. Everytime I go to the beach I just have to get dirty and make me a magnificent sand castle. It is the child in me–creativity at its best: Molding, digging out the moat, shells and sea-smoothed broken glass adorning the fortress walls, sand dollar doors, and oyster shell windows. A moat dug deep with live baby crabs, big dragons made from seaweed and driftwood. I was told if I dug deep enough I just might make it to China or if I built high enough I just might see the tip of Antartica. I’m almost 40 years old but age is just a number I want to be making castles when I’m 102.

I hope to some day have my own children so I can pass on my tradition but in the meantime I will continue to play and get my fingers all dirty and gritty.
