ISSUES

ISSUES AND THINGS…

I have been going through the closet and trying to get rid of my reject clothes. The clothes that just seem to hang around which eventually lose their distinguished place in the front of the closet pole and sadly end up getting shoved further and further to the end of the closet. As I was tossing the clothes into a big heaping pile on the floor, Sami was picking out items that she wanted to keep. I said she could have whatever she wanted and the rest of the clothes will go to the local womens shelter. She selected some little belly shirts, spandex biker shorts and a blue baby doll dress. I was surprised that the clothes actually fit her quite nicely.

SideNote-Sami is five years old and weighs 80 lbs.

Apparently, the X-wife was quite frazzled, when she came upon these clothes. BB told me last night that she spoke to him about finding Sami’s new things. He could sense that she was just a tad bit peeved. I had absolutely no intentions of hurting the X’s feelings. Placing myself in her large dress, If I came across a little blue dress that the new girlfriend used to wear, I would feel blue too!

Speaking of weight issues, I have been diligently teaching the kids about nutrition and healthy eating habits. I was appalled to find out that BB and his X don’t monitor what goes into their childrens’ mouths. I have watched Kevyn drink 7 Mountain Dews in a 4 hour period. “hello” no wonder the kids bounce off the walls. I see Sami eating a half bag of Ruffel potato chips with such a perfect rhythmatic skill of hand to mouth motion. The other night was very disturbing for me to say the least. I was almost done cooking dinner. The meat had about 10 more minutes left to cook. Craig became impatient and started to help himself to a PBJ sandwich. I was livid!

I can’t sit back anymore and watch these children get fatter and fatter. Kevyn is 10 and is about 20 lbs overweight. Sami is gaining weight by leaps and bounds so quickly her mother has to keep on getting bigger & bigger sizes. There is some good news here: I have been taking Sami along with me on a 1 mile bike ride, Kevyn is not drinking pop anymore. He now prefers h2o Craig is more conscience about his eating habits and has lost some weight. He is looking really hot. I think going through puberty has helped him loose his baby fat. He now realizes the fat guys don’t get to date the cheerleaders.

Enough about fat already! I’am in the process of making a family web site. A place where all my sisters and their families can come and conoddle. I found a web host for $11.00 a month. I am configuring the design of the web site on paper. I have decided to call the site “We are Family” Here is what I have come up with so far :

  • monthly birthday profile
  • updates on family gatherings
  • message board
  • guest book
  • favorite links
  • photo album
  • inspiration page
  • chat (not sure about this one)

I started to design my layout for the site, but the super duper web building software is not loading anything up. Now I’m frustrated and having difficulties right off the git-go

I think that’s awesome you are teaching them healthy habits!! My mom did that 4 us from the time we were born & they have stuck with us since! 🙂

No offense, but if Sami already weighs 80 lbs., does she even look good wearing a little belly shirt?

I am glad you are teaching these children healthy eating habits. They are so SO important. I didn’t learn healthy eating habits until I was out on my own. And sometimes it’s hard now. Thanks for all your nice notes! Mindy

Those kids will (hopefully) thank you some day for saving their lives.

It IS sad to see so many children who are overweight! Sounds like you’re trying to be a positive influence on them!

Yes, good eating habits have to start early. If those parents dont get a grip, the children will grow up to a lifetime of problems.
