So It Begins
2005 is over and 2006 has begun. It’s time for a fresh start, isn’t it?
In my last entry I said that would be writing a recap of 2005 but I don’t think I will. The important events in my life have been chronicled and that’s that. I have my memories with me.
As I type this, I can see my wife and daughter on the bed. Sharon is going through the mail and Sage is eating goldfish crackers. They’re what’s important. My biggest resolution for the new year is to provide for them better than I have been. It seems that every month we run into the same shortages when the bills come in but not this year. I’ll work my ass off to make some extra money.
But I need to spend more time with my family too. That’s the problem. It seems like I’ll see Sage do something new and when I remark on it, I’m told that she’s been doing it for weeks. She’s growing so fast and sometimes it seems as if I’m missing everything.
I feel a gap between Sharon and I sometimes too. A difference of opinion here, a disagreement over dinner or how to spend our evening. We’ll snap at each other over little things too often. I usually just go along with whatever she wants to do because I don’t want to have little arguments that are senseless.
It’s the little things that are important though, aren’t they? Whether it’s a little disagreement or a little laugh, they’re important.
