There’s a Baby Crying in my Ears *Edit*
Usually when putting Sage to sleep, we put her in bed with us and comfort her until she’s asleep. It’s a long story how this started and I don’t want to get into it right now but it’s what works. After she’s asleep we’ll then put her in her pack n’ play and if she wakes up in the night, it’s usually back into bed with us. We just don’t like to hear her cry.
Starting last night, we decided to try to break her of that habit. Last night we just gave her a bottle and put her straight into the playpen. She cried for about twenty minutes before falling asleep and she slept through the night. Miracle on our part I guess.
As you can tell by the title, we’re trying it again tonight. It’s really hard to just sit here and listen to her cry. You don’t want to hear your baby cry, you want to hold her and comfort her when she does. Listening to her makes me want to cry.
(A short time later)
Sage isn’t asleep but it’s just a matter of time. She’s laying down in her pack n play, watching tv I think but she’s not making noise. Well, I think I’ll hit the sack. Goodnight.
A quick word on why Sage sleeps in a pack n’ play. Our window air conditioner won’t cool down her room, it’s not powerful enough. The crib won’t fit into our room. So she sleeps in the pack n play in our air conditioned room so she doesn’t overheat during the hot summer nights. It’s not bad for her. The bottom is padded like a crib so no harm done.
I cant stand to hear my son cry either, that is why he is in his own bed utnil he wakes up and then in our bed. We also comfort him until he falls asleep!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE know this question isn’t meant to be nasty, simply curiousity. But why does Sage sleep in a pack n play every night? Don’t you guys have a crib for her? Pack N plays are good for time to time, playing, stuff like that. But on a daily basis for all sleeping, i think could be damaging to her back?

Sleeping in the P&P is def safer than sleeping in your bed. I saw a report that like 20% greater chance a baby can suffocate in parents bed.

It’s definitely a hard habit to break after a certain age (I’d say one?), but it’s possible (my oldest son used to sleep with us, and occasionally our baby does; just depending on his night). I mean, I doubt she’ll be wanting to sleep with you both when she’s 10, right ;P These are the sweetest days, but the roughest nights; thank goodness they don’t last forever, eh? 😉

That air conditioning – that would explain it! I’m glad you guys are able to have air conditioning at least in your room then to share with Sage and hopefully she’ll be able to return to her crib once the weather cools! 🙂
