Oh, Woe Is Me!

I am warning you right now – you are getting ready to read another one of those entries where I lament how busy I am, how the summer is just flying by with lightning speed because there is too much to do, too much to look forward to so if you find these types of entries boring as watching paint dry, feel free to skip it!

This Friday is Brian’s birthday and we will be heading to Indy to stay with and visit Lynne’s older brother for the weekend. We always have so much fun with him – he likes all of the same types of things we do, has just as much, if not more disposable income as us and has just as few people to enjoy both things with as we do.

Friday, we plan to kick off the celebration weekend by heading, once again, to the infamous St. Elmo’s Steak House at our host’s request. We went there for the first time last winter and enjoyed THE best steaks we have ever had. Many famous people – local, national and international have visited this steak house so it is always fun to people watch when you go. The whole one time I have been there and didn’t see anyone famous.

So many other possibilities for the weekend – I would like to take our bikes so we can ride the Monon Trail, something we have never done before but always sounded fun. Lynne’s brother doesn’t have a bike but said he could take his dog and walk the trial while Brian and I ride. Brian isn’t too hip to this idea because he claims it will be too crowded on a nice day and he won’t be able to ride fast enough to enjoy himself. *hmph*

So, there is always shopping and B has talked a few times about driving around to a few local wineries. Plus, Brian found a newer restaurant/bar down there last night online that specializes in Belgium beers, which are among the best in the world, bar none. Maybe, just maybe – we could try and play it by ear too and not plan the whole weekend away! Tough to do when both myself and B are planners and have all of these fun thoughts and ideas running around in our brains. Too bad we don’t get to Indy more often but man, it would be tough on our pocketbooks if we did!

And that is just this weekend. . .

Next weekend, I believe we will be getting together with Lynne and her hubby to celebrate their daughter’s birthday. I have some ideas of what we could do but want to play it by ear and do whatever sounds like fun to them and is easiest on the family. That will be during the day and then that evening, Brian’s mom and her friend are taking us out to dinner to Woodfire to celebrate Brian’s birthday. The next day will be the 4th of July lake party with swimming and the traditional fireworks – always a good time.

The weekend of July 12th brings us to Carol’s big 60th birthday bash. The invites should be going out Monday and it looks like the guest list has hit around 40 people. It will be an open house style party, at our house, so I hope and pray that not everyone comes and/or not everyone comes at one time or it will be a mighty tight fit in our 1600 square foot house. I will set up everything outside, weather permitting but let’s face it, how often do you get lucky enough for it actually to be sunny and not too warm when you want to do something that big outside?

Lynne’s brother just informed me there is a big beer festival down in Indy July 19th that we could go to and one of the wineries at the wine festival last weekend is having a big blues fest at their winery on July 26th. At that point, the summer is already 2/3’s over and I don’t even want to think about it.

It goes so fast, doesn’t it? The fun times. . . why can’t every month of the year be like summertime?

ryn: totally serious! we should talk about it. Justin will be back sometime in August, it would be weird going to his parents’ place without him, but he’s going to Norway. Let me know what you have free, right now August is looking ok for weekends.
