Grump du jour

I have decided, firmly and irrevocably, that women should not be allowed to own large 4×4 vehicles without having to pass a stringent parking test first.

I live in a very urban area, which is definitely not known for its muddy tracks and difficult terrain.  In fact, the biggest road problem round here is the number of roundabouts… and normal road users just go round them.  Therefore, in my town, there is no need for off-road, fuel-guzzling, obstacle-climbing, 37-seater, 87 ft high, show-off cars – agreed?  So why, oh why, do women who can barely drive insist on taking them to the very urbanly-situated Tesco and take several hours to get them into something approximating the size of at least three parking bays?

NO!  I am NOT exaggerating.  I spent a total of two hours on the M25 today and that was far less stressful than watching one single woman trying to park in the Tesco carpark.

If I were in government, my expenses would be realistic and nobody would be allowed to buy a big vehicle without having to pass an extra driving test first.  Oh yes, and they would be banned from the school run too.

Grump!

You are hilarious. I hate driving a van. It is big enough to park. RYN: I fell asleep typing, last night. Then, I finished in the morning. I suppose I should edit that. LOL!

If I ruled the country, the only people with those vehicle would live on farms in remote areas. They wouldn’t be allowed on roads at all.

Fair enough.

RYN: No, it’s not that. It’s that once it’s ‘official’ they tend to relax and turn into complete tossers – this is her experience so far, and it’s all she has to go on, even though on a daily basis she sees that this is not the case with me and RP. Nonetheless, she thinks keeping him in a ‘carrot and stick’ scenario works better. Well, it certainly does for her, but I don’t know how long that poor lad will be able to put up with being kept as a ‘pet’, and one that does all her bidding at that! RP says it’s a control issue, and she’s enjoying having all of it. I’m not liking what I see, but nothing anyone says to her will change matters. The more we push, the more she sticks firm, so we don’t push.

Little women in huge SUVs is norm over here. And over here, they don’t handle them any better than over there. …

RYN: That’s really annoying, it worked fine when I uploaded it. Oh well. I’ll just delete the entry…

*grin* Didn’t you exaggerate in this entry, just a tad? Surely those cars aren’t built more than 65 feet high, with a maximum capacity of 27 seats?

RYN: I’m cultivating a special patch, just to ship across to you. I hear they do very well in the British summer. *grin*P.S. Have you noticed it’s almost two months since your posted this entry? (Hint!)

There are bad drivers and bad parkers but they are both men and women, not just women.

RYN: Yes, of course. And especially the photo, just to remind you there’s a patch waiting to be shipped to you whenever you want it. *grin*

xo! 🙂

RYN: Eyes are good today, ta. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, so I’m taking the good days when I can get ’em, as bad days still happen. All part of the healing process, I guess.

RYN: Thank you my dear! 🙂

Thank you for the notes, and especially the comments on your “light-globe” moment with drug-addiction and eating. I’m realising that, for me, it’s almost as if I have been hypnotised to eat, in certain situations. That eating is mindless and it has nothing to do with hunger or with food satisfaction. So I’m working at “unhypnotising” myself. So far, so good. Ah, the causes of over-eating are so various!

I, too, have a huge problem with people (of either gender) driving more vehicle than they need or can handle. It’s an issue of courtesy, ethics, and safety. Unfortunately, many people disagree. RYN: You didn’t miss a thing. I put the deposit down yesterday. There’s obviously both joy and guilt involved. I will elaborate soon.

RYN: It had me smiling for hours – partly at its contents, mostly ’cause it proved you are still alive and visiting OD. I hope life is treating you well. Any chance of a new entry from you?

4x4s are a total pain, whoever’s driving them. I think on farms only would be good. Most round here seem to be used to get people to work. At best they go ‘4 wheel driving’, i.e., ripping up the bush for nothing other than their own selfish pleasure. I think if you want to go bush, make like the animals and walk or hop. Well. Perhaps that’s a bit extreme. Some roads and tracks are rough…
