Sleep Is My Best Friend

What a weekend!! Hardly any time to write at all. Here we go!

Saturday, I woke up around 11:00 and played The Sims 3 for a couple hours while Stan was working. I have been officially sucked back into that little obession. Those two hours only made the itch to play worse, and I knew I wouldn’t get another chance to play the rest of the weekend… and I was right. When Stan got home, we headed out to meet our realtor to look at a house she found for us. It’s smaller than the one we had the offer pending on, but it’s still plenty big, and definitely beautiful. It’s two-stories, with a pool, on a cul-de-sac, 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths. Basically had everything on Stan’s list of wants. When we saw it, we really liked it. Stan asked our realtor if we were to make an offer, what should we offer? Terry said, "Funny you should ask…" and proceeded to tell us that she had written up an offer the day before, just in case we loved the house. She said she previewed it Friday and thought that we’d love it, so she took a chance. We signed the offer, and the listing agent came by for an open house she had scheduled that day, so we just gave her the paperwork. The very nice thing about that house is that it is owned by an actual person, not a bank, like all the others we’ve been seeing. The listing agent said she should hear something back from the seller on Monday about our offer 🙂

After the house, Stan and I drove around trying to find a certain store where his sister shops so he could get her a gift card for her birthday, but we couldn’t find it. So we met Amy back at our place, then headed out to Chili’s for late lunch/early dinner. I ordered the honey chipotle chicken cripers, but they were heavy on the honey, so I couldn’t really enjoy them. I can take honey in small doses, but it tends to make me sick. So I just ate all my fries, and most of the chips and salsa we ordered. Then we all trooped home, where I caught Amy up on all the So You Think You Can Dance episodes she’s missed. Around 10:00, we orderd pizza and just hung out until Amy fell asleep on the couch. She went home around 1ish, and then I came into the computer room to find Stan playing The Sims, so I brought a chair in and sat with him ðŸ™‚ It wasn’t as good as playing, but it was still entertaining.

Sunday I had to work from 1-11. Nothing super amazing happend. I got to sit with Laura for the day, and Jefferey told me that he’s pretty sure he’s gonna move back to Louisiana. I came home after work, watched True Blood, took a shower, then went to bed.

Yesterday was kind of all over the place. This weekend is my flex weekend, which means I have the option of having Sunday off. So I schedule myself for 4 ten-hour days those weeks. This week is 11-10. It was pretty busy call-wise at work all day, but I also got to talk to a lot of people, which sort of breaks up the time. Around 7ish, I decided to check my email from my phone, and found an email from both our realtor AND the lady who got us pre-approved for the loan, advising us that the seller had verbally accepted our offer!!! YAY!! I immdiately forwarded the email to Stan’s work, and texted him the good news. Once the seller signs the documents and gets them back, we can have the house inspected. The good news there is that the house recently had an inspection, and we’re hoping to get the same guy to do it again for a smaller fee. That would be fantastic. I can’t believe how quickly this is all happening! After waiting around for weeks on that other house, I was starting to get a little discouraged… and so was Stan, I think. We still had some time, but we wanted to be sure we could get the loan closed by December 1st, which is the deadline for the tax credit for first-time home buyers this year. And with most of the houses we were seeing being in forclosure or being short sales, we knew it could take a few months to hear anything final. So fingers crossed that this all goes smoothly! The hardest part is getting the loan approved. We’re already pre-approved, but I know banks are being verrrry cautious these days about who they lend money to.

Anyway, on my break, I was talking with Laura about it all, when Jessica came by. She said hello to Laura, then turned to me and said, "Hey, long time since we’ve talked. Are you mad at me or something?" Now, anyone who knows me, knows that I avoid confrontation. I will usually brush off something like that, especially at work. However, I’ve been working on speaking up and sharing my feelings more, so I said, "Well, not mad. But not happy, either." She looked a little shocked, and I explained how I felt about everything. How I felt she was a fair-weather friend, how I thought I was the most supportive of everything she’s going through with her husband and her new boyfriend, and how I basically was brushed off and felt taken advantage of, a little bit. She explained that she pulled away from everyone, which I pointed out wasn’t true, because she still talks to Laura and Jeffery. I told her that I understood, because I do, but that I wasn’t about to chase her around and make her talk to me or be my friend. I don’t have the time or the energy. She said she felt like a jerk and realized she handled it wrong, and we both apologized, hugged, and declared ourselves friends once again. We won’t be BFFs or anything, because honestly, I’m not sure I can handle her drama level. But work feels a little better now, not so awkward, and I will be there for her if she needs to talk.

After I got home, Stan and I went to Wal-Mart so I could get some groceries, then I came home and finished reading Breaking Dawn. Then we watched some TV, and I headed to bed shortly thereafter.

Today I woke up with a headache, but figured it was because I was tired and also because it was cloudy outside. (I tend to get headaches right before it rains.) I headed into work, where the headache progressed into a migraine, which just got worse as the day wore on. By 2:00, I couldn’t take it anymore, so I left early. Thank God I’m at the 90 day mark – I got to use some of my paid sick time. I came home and immediately went to bed, where I slept for a good 2 1/2 hours. It did wonders for my head. I still have a slight headache, but I’m feeling MUCH better now. Which is why I’m able to sit down and write all this 🙂

My stomach is rumbling at me, so I’m gonna go find some food, and then probably dive into The Sims. I know. I’m a junkie. Sue me.
