Bullets

Man oh man, have I been remiss in updating this diary! I’m sorry! There’s a LOT going on, but things should be settling a little bit. I know I still owe photos of NYC, and I promise I’ll get there. For now, you get some bullet-style updates until I have more time to come back and write a proper entry. These will also be in no particular order.

  • I started my new job at Chase on March 30th. It seems like it’ll be a good place to work. It’s very corporate, which I knew going into it, so I’m handling it better than some of my coworkers. I finished my 6 weeks of training on May 8th, and am starting my "regular" schedule today. I say "regular" because my schedule varies a little from week to week, if I want it to. More on that later. Right now, I’m just happy to be starting the night shift. As much as I loved getting off at 5:00pm, it’s not as much fun when you’re stuck in traffic for an hour trying to get home. Plus, I was just exhausted all the time, and I felt like I barely saw Stan. This will be a much better fit, for now. I won’t be on the phones doing collections forever, that’s for sure. My goal is to be doing something else in 6 months.
  • It’s possible I’ve made some new friends at Chase. When I went into training, I told myself not to look for friends. Be nice, I said to myself, but don’t actively look for someone to bond with. It’s only gotten me hurt in the past. So of course, three nice people fell into my lap on the first day haha 🙂 Laura, Jeffery, and Jessica. Jessica is starting to get on my nerves, though, so I don’t know if it’ll stay a friendship. However, I don’t have to see her every day now, so I’m thinking that will help me. She seems like a nice girl, but she’s very… hyper. And sometimes, a hypocrite. And I don’t like hypocrites. Hyper I can handle in smaller doses, though. I’d say of the three of them, Laura is the one I can see becoming an actual friendship. We shall see 🙂 We’ve set up a regular day to meet after work for a drink, and that is Monday nights. I believe all the women are going tonight.
  • Stan and I are currently in the process of trying to buy a house. We’ve been pre-approved for a loan, and have been spending the last few weekends looking at houses. We’re going to try to decide on one this week. Stan is in love with one, while I’m leaning towards another. We have a lot of good houses to choose from.. there’s just pros and con with each. I’m also not trying to get my hopes up too high, because I know a lot of people with credit better than ours who’s deals have fallen through. I think that’s a big reason why I’m reluctant to choose one.
  • Stan has gout in his right foot. He woke up Friday morning in extreme pain and took himself to the doctor, who gave him an anti-inflamitory, a painkiller, and some high blood pressure medication. He also has to see a primary care physican to get his cholesterol level checked, as well as get a medication for the gout. He can’t take that yet, though, because he has to wait for the current attack to go away. The anti-inflamitory isn’t working very well so far, which is not good. Of course, it doesn’t help that the man is stubborn and refuses to just sit and REST. The painkillers (or possibly just the pain) are giving him the worst mood swings ever, and I am not enjoying it. I’m not snapping back, thankfully, but it’s getting harder. He can be a little mean sometimes. Please God let this be over soon.
  • My car is almost paid off! Less than $75 left on it! And of course, it picks Saturday to freak out and decide to start acting weird. Apparently, it needs an alternator and two belts. They weren’t able to get the parts on Sunday (we left it with them late in the day on Saturday), and it’s currently still at the shop. Supposed to be ready by 2:00. It had better be. I need my car. Stan’s gonna drive me down there in a little bit to check and see if it’ll be done by then. If so, he’ll leave me there and go to work. If not, he’ll bring me back home, then come back at 3:00 and drive me to work. I prefer the car to be done NOW.
  • I got my period a few weeks ago! I know, TMI! But I hadn’t had one since December, and it was quite a shock to be getting it at all. It was a rough one… without too much details, let’s just say it totally kicked my ass. I’ve got my calendar marked for when it should be here again, so we’ll see. I hope it’s getting back on track. *crosses fingers*
  • Stan and I went to Discovery Cove on April 27th!! For those of you who may not know what that is… it’s a theme park here that lets you swim with dolphins!! And also, snorkle with stingrays and lots of fish, as well as walk through an aviary and feed birds. It was completely amazing! It’s always been a dream of mine to swim with dolphins.. and now I have! I have pictures, of course, which I will also share at some point ðŸ™‚ I’ll write a longer entry on the days events later.

I think that’s about it. I’ve gotta start getting ready now. Here’s hoping my car is almost ready!
