I Got A JOB!!
Hello all!!! Yes, it’s true!! All my hard work has paid off. I had an interview with Chase on Saturday for a Collections position, and got the call today that they wanted to hire me!! I’m so excited!! Not really about the collections part… I’m sure it won’t be the most fun job I’ve ever had. But I am excited to leave my current job behind, and to tell them all to kiss my ass. I’m due to start on the 30th… the day after we get back from New York! Training will be 6 weeks long, Monday thru Friday, from 8-5. Then, I’ll be working Mon-Thurs 5-11 (yes, that’s PM), have Fri and Sat off, and then work Sun from 1-11. For all you people who cared to add that up, it’s only about 34 hours (33 if they give me an unpaid hour lunch on Sunday). These are what they refer to as "core hours" which you are required to work, and then you pick whatever other time you want to come in to make up the extra time. I’m thinking I’ll probably work 3-11 on, say, Tues, Wed and Thurs to make up the extra 6 I need. The pay is good, too… not quite as much as I was making before they demoted me, but because I’m working evenings, I get a 10% differential too, once I hit the floor. SWEET! I seriously wanted to quit today, but after looking at my finances, and realizing they only get paid on the 15th and the last day of the month, I figured I’d better work at least through Friday to ensure I get some kind of paycheck on the 3rd. I’m taking tomorrow off, because I need to go take a drug test, and let them do my fingerprints (they do a background check). WOOT! I’m so excited!! And relieved. And, of course, a little bit sad. I’ve been there for 2 1/2 years, and I hate that it had to end this way. And my old team, they’ve become like a little family to me. It will be hard to say goodbye. I also will miss emailing Amy all day. I’m hoping I’ll have email at Chase so that I can talk to her and Stan during the day. And I definitely will miss working with him. Not a lot of people could stan to be around their spouses all day and then come home to them at night too, but it works for Stan and I. Here’s hoping we can work together again some day, but right now, this is what needs to be done. Plus, getting off at 11 will mean I can stay up later with him, and we’ll have more time during the week together. So it’s definitely a plus.
And, speaking of New York… it’s 9 days away!! NINE!!! I can’t believe it. I am soooooooo ready for a vacation!! I realize it won’t be a very relaxing vacation, but I don’t care. I have ALWAYS wanted to go to NYC, and there’s no one I’d rather go with than Stan. And the fact that we arrive on our 2 year wedding anniversary… *sigh* It makes me so very happy. We didn’t get to celebrate our anniversary last year, because we were moving into our current home, so all our money went to that. This year, we’re doing it up right!! I’m also planning on taking my laptop with me, so I can upload pictures off my camera daily. I know that I have a lot of room on there, but I don’t want to worry about counting pictures, and yes, I will be taking pictures of EVERYTHING. Plus, I like keeping a journal when I travel, but writing by hand is so time-consuming, and I always forget half of what I want to say because I can’t write fast enough. So having my laptop will at least let me write more quickly, if not give me time to check my mail and (possibly) update my diary!
Well, I’m gonna go settle myself down and do some reading. Oh, and to those that celebrate, Happy St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow!
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And thank you for the advice. 🙂 XOXOXOXOX
