This entry is made even more ironic considering Gilbert Gottfried, the voice of the Aflac duck, was fired from his job for making inappropriate jokes about the tsunami in Japan. Just cause you “don’t get the notes” doesn’t mean the joke isn’t crass.

And frankly, if you’re not poking fun at the loss of thousands of lives and billions of dollars of damage and the meltdown of multiple nuclear power plants, then what the hell does the joke even mean? Godzilla isn’t in insurance. Please, explain it to me, I’d love to hear how this is so funny.

Oh come on Eric, seriously? Why even make a joke like that if you weren’t poking fun at Japan. I too am curious as to what the context of it was to begin with if it had nothing to do with the current situation there. What exactly do a CGI duck and a fictional monster have in common indeed?

yea the pics i have on twitpic.com & i kept editing the post and at times the pix wouldn’t be there so i had to put them in again. i can see the post on my pc and now they’re all showing up. u still cant see them?

oh ok now the images aren’t showing. guess im going to have to use photobucket. funny cause i dont have a problem with the images on my description page, and they’re all from twitpic… i will do over! 🙂

RYN: So explain it to me, if you’re such a comedian. It hardly makes sense. Why Godzilla and the Aflac duck? If the joke were “Did you hear about the Aflac duck? He’s been laid off and is being replaced by Godzilla,” it would make much more sense but it would still be a tasteless and insensitive joke. You know what I think? I think you heard it from someone else and posted it without really understanding what you were saying. The most popular racist/bigoted/insensitive jokes always have elements that have some slight relation to one another, but are neither comical or make sense. Go ahead and argue it, go ahead and say I’m the one who is wrong for being offended, but the fact remains that it’s inappropriate no matter what you thought it meant to begin with.

i was having a problem with the pics on my description page just now. i replaced them..well most..with photobucket pics and was having some problem showing up. i see them there now but who knows later. i still dont get the stupid 7 day rule! whats to stop ppl here from spamming after the week is over???

I didn’t take it that you were poking fun at Japan, but at Godzilla, a fictional monster. Of course, I am a literal interpreter!
