The Bullet Points of my Life…Recently *edit
- My wife wants to do our taxes jointly this year, mostly so that my huge tax return will cover her tax payout. Even in my second marriage I’m still covering for someone else’s mistakes.
- My son called me today. He wants to finish the movie tonight that we started to watch Sunday. But because Linda is doing the joint taxes tonight, we might not be able to work that in. The movie is due back Thursday, so tonight is the only night we can watch it before it has to be taken back.
- Runescape.com released a new skill; Dungeoneering. However, it’s not really a skill in the traditional sense. It’s more like a mini-game that was retrofitted to be a skill. Jagex is really getting lazy with this game.
- Though I still enjoy Combat Arms, that game is starting to wear on me a bit, though not as bad as Runescape. I may need to take a temporary break from gaming. Maybe not. We’ll see about that one.
- My wife’s car had $620 worth of work done on it last week. Naturally I footed the bill. ALL of that tax rebate check better go into MY bank account. She owes me.
- My son’s prom went well. He really enjoyed himself, and it was the first time that he was ever in a limo.
- My wife criticized my ex-wife’s excessive use of the camera when we sent my son off to prom. The petty shit that she complains about boggles my mind sometimes.
- My son and his girlfriend and their group (4 girls) went to four different locations to have their prom pictures taken before getting into a limo for prom. I had no idea that we, the caravan of parents taking pictures, would be traipsing all over the place just for friggin’ pictures.
- It saddens me when people on OD pass away. We’ve had several recently, just like media stars have been passing away a lot lately.
- I’m in the process of making arrangements with The DM and others IRL in the event of my untimely demise to put a notification here in my diary. All these recent diarists’ passing has moved me to action.
Edit: For new comers to my diary, my wife and I have separate checking accounts. That was agreed upon prior to getting married. Though we share most expenses, our finances are separate as per our agreement.
I find it kind of odd that you talk about your wife owing you. Aren’t you guys supposed to be partners and share? You call her petty three lines down after saying she owes you. To me that’s petty as well. *shrugs* It sounds like she’s jealous of your ex-wife and it’s coming out in odd ways. I’m not saying she’s right in her actions (because seriously, if it were my kid going off to prom I would have taken a couple hundred photos because I’m nuts) but her actions might go deeper than just some stupid criticism. You may already know this though.

Could you have objected to the joing filing? Too much camera?! With your only child’s prom?! No such thing. Nope. I call bull**** on that one. Picky is right! An OD Death Notification. How can I get in on that? I have seriously wondered the same thing. Like if I am rendered incapacitated or die, I have debated giving one of my most treasured and reliable OD friends my diary password to post such a thing.

RYN: I understand that but I still don’t get the concept of owing your spouse even with separate accounts. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. 🙂 I also agree with the above noter that if you don’t want to file with her you shouldn’t. If you’ve never filed jointly before I see no reason to start now. Especially because it makes you uncomfortable. I would never force my husband to do something he wasn’t comfortable with in terms of our finances.

I totally understand the ‘owing’ thing. Sure, you share with your partner, but if both are employed, no reason why each shouldn’t pull their own weight as much as is reasonable. Too many prom pictures? Well, with driving all over hack and back I guess I can see that, but still. He’s your kid. Sheesh. =;p

My hubby and I have been married for 22 years and we still have seperate checking accounts. I hated how he told me how to spend my money. He still pays for everything. Taxes isn’t it a bit late to be thinking of this when tomorrow is the due date? Of course you could always ask for an extenstion.
