Dead in the Water – Death of the Audio Blog

Please, a moment of silence for the passing of Snapvine.com…

"Sad news. Snapvine is shutting down on March 31, 2010. On March 31, the Snapvine.com website and all its content will be gone."

That’s not good news for me. I loved using Snapvine for audio blogging. It was easy to use, fast (you could create a blog with a simple phone call) and FREE. All of the qualities I like in an audio blogging site. I managed to download my previous audio blogs using the RSS feed, but the inserted audio blog players in my previous OD entries won’t load or play now, so there will be a bit of disconnect there.

Though my audio blogs weren’t much of a hit here on OD, I liked doing them so I’ll be on the hunt for a similar audio blog site. In the meantime, maybe I’ll go back to doing video blogs? Video blogs aren’t as convenient as the audio blogs. With video blogs you have to actually be somewhere to do them as apposed to sitting in the car and make a simple phone call. You also have to make sure you look presentable and don’t scare anyone with a scary visage. You have to make sure you hair looks like it’s been washed the last 30 days, and make sure that your make-up is just so (Ok, so I don’t wear make-up because I’m a, you know, a guy…and straight), and make sure that what I’m wearing at least had been washed within the last 12 times that I wore it. You know how hard that is?! It’s a chore, let me tell you.

It kind of reminds me of The Jetsons cartoon where anytime Judy wanted to make a video phone call she would have a device to give her tired, mucked up appearance the look of having be recently preened. I need one of those for making videos. Someone needs to get on that project ASAP!
