The Outsiders

OK, I’ve been slightly guilted into writing by the new Mrs B, but I have been meaning to write for a few days but never seem to get round to it. The title today comes from the new REM album, Around the Sun. It’s great, go out and buy it now.

It’s been a bit manic at work at the moment. Thanks to some stellar management skills in London, we have some how ended up owing money to a certain tv channel which means budget cuts and higher productivity is required. We’ve gone from 40 minutes a day to 50 minutes now which inevitably means quicker typing, poorer quality subtitles and whinging work mates. I’ve come close to slapping people on some occasions – if you don’t like it then quit whining and find a new job. I’m not enamoured with the new system, it’s hard to produce poorer quality subtitles when you’ve spent the last 16 months working on high quality subtitles, but I don’t see that I have a choice. Few companies would hire me now, knowing I was getting married in under 7 months. I wouldn’t expect them to, why should they hire me when we’re planning on starting a family soon after. At least I know that with this job, there is a part-time option open for me after I’ve had a baby.

We saw Tony and Kelly last night. Kelly’s starting to show now and had heard the heartbeat for the first time yesterday afternoon. I feel quite jealous to be honest, but at the same time unbelievably happy for them both. Tony coached Duncan for an interview he has today, which he is dead nervous about. It’s working within BT still but in business sales with established clients, more money and an almost guaranteed  contract after three months. This should do our finances the world of good and can’t hurt when it comes to his residency application just after Christmas. So, fingers crossed all round.

I started making the wedding invites this week, they look quite good, even if I do say so myself. I really should try and get some photos for you but without a digital camera it’s quite hard. My mum has promised us one as a wedding gift that we’ll get before we go to the Seychelles.

OK, really should get back to sky’s latest rubbish tv programming. Thank god it’s friday!

Until there is a next time…

xx

I know how hard it is trying to lower one standards. When it happens, it’s sometimes a slippery slope into not caring less at all about work.

i had something to say but now i forget! heh.
