Wedding Cake!

Soooo we found our cake lady!! Well, cupcake lady. She’s great and the bakery is gorgeous! We had to sample everything to figure out what we wanted… so I ended up having four cupcakes in total and a cookie. My diet is pretty much shot for this weekend – but I mean, how could I not sample my potential wedding cake!?

We’re putting down the deposit next week. 🙂

Tomorrow we’re going to the sugar bush…. yeah, my diet is totally shot! The weather has been so nice lately I’m eager to get my bike out this weekend.

We christened our barbeque today. Delish!

Otherwise, things are pretty boring. I’m getting so stressed out about finishing school though. I keep looking for jobs to apply to, but I’m getting a little annoyed. I live in Ottawa, which is like THISCLOSE to Quebec which means almost everyone is bilingual. However, because I didn’t grow up here I don’t speak French. I mean, I can throw a few sentences together but nothing too special. So, most of the social work jobs I’m coming across require you to speak English and French or they require an MSW – or both!! I’ll only have a BSW, well, that and an SSW diploma and a lot of work experience… but it seems that bachelor’s degrees aren’t worth shit anymore. Now I’m wondering if I should go for my masters? Not next year, since the date to apply is past and I’m burnt out and in debt… but maybe the year after? Part-time? Or corrospondance? The only problem is my grades kinda suck… but I can throw in some sob story about a mental illness coupled with a learning disorder [true story, but you know…]. I find you really have to play the system now a day… especially in social work.

Not sure. There are lots of jobs, but they’re closer to Toronto… and there’s no sense of moving because we want to buy a house and they’re too expensive in Toronto and Shannon works for one of the universities here and has a permanent full-time position with benefits and crazy vacation and two raises a year and so on… so it would be stupid to give that up… I think…

Oh well, I’m sure I’ll find something. I’m not done til the end of April and I don’t actually graduate until June 8th, so I still have some time to figure it out. And my contract at my current job doesn’t end until the end of June, so I’m good there as well…

Oh life. It’s such a chore to start you. All I want is a wedding and a full-time job, and a house, and a couple of kids. I’m heading in that direction, but it’s definately slow going…

lol, I AM from Ottawa and I can’t speak any french either. And I feel ya on the starting life part. They tell us we need all these degrees to get a job, so we get them…then they tell us we need more degrees now or more experience then we have. You need experience to get experience? haha. It will figure itself out in time…:)
