It’s my dad’s birthday today. Happy birthday dad!
I’m not feeling the nojomo prompt vibe – I see these type of questions on reddit too, you know the “what was the best…” or “what was the funniest…” Well, I’ve been here for almost 43 years (only 25 days to go…) how am I supposed to remember the most outrages way I’ve got out of sonething???
Although I’d had a date with a rather persistent chap once and I was moving, so I didn’t tell him…
Anyhoo. Life is going on, I’m feeling flat and all that jazz.
It just seems that so many people are splitting up and falling out of love at the moment. Is it seasonal? Really?
I found out on fb tonight that a friend of mine and her husband have split.
I was once given the advice that, when it comes to the person you choose for life, “you have to like the basic model and accept the extras”. I really like that. Rich’s basic model is kind, thoughtful, caring, sexy, sexual, funny. His extras are worrying more than (I consider) necessary, giving in too easily (in my opinion), not knowing how to unwind. But those things are only a part of him. They are not all of him. I wish he could overcome those things but not for me, for him! If he could he would sleep better (all my insomniac friends here have nothing on my husband who gets his sleep on the bus to work and home, in small doses in front of the telly and a bit at night) instead of worrying he would feel healthier and happier but that’s not who he is.
We’ve had the odd minor issue but they’ve only ever been minor because we sit down and talk about what’s going on, we work out how to work through it.
We love each other immensely, we sometimes take one another for granted but we realise it and give our bums a good kicking when it happens.
The other important relationship advice I’ve always worked on was something that I realised for myself.
If you want the person you’re with to change, you’re with the wrong person.
And that’s all.
Your Rich and mine are cut from the same cloth. 🙂

RYN: Our $1 coin features a loon swimming in a lake. We’ve had loonies since I can remember. They phased out the $2 bill about 15 years ago and since the $1 coin was nicknamed a loonie, even though the $2 coin features a single polar bear, the name “toonie” stuck. 1GBP used to be ~$2.20CAN; today it’s ~$1.60, so it’s somewhat close. Also, 4 is a little early to be losing teeth!

Great that your relationship is so good!
