reality check – the i-don’t-know-what-else-to-writ
e edition.
WHERE: in the bath (this seems to be a recurring theme). It’s early but I ate pizza last night so I woke up with a funny tummy and then decided that, since I was up, I may as well have a long soak without the cry of “but I want to come in mummy!” It’s okay, sometimes, to have the bath to myself. Right?
WEARING: you want me to go through my jewellery again?!
FITNESS UPDATE: the cycling is going well, yesterday I managed to get up the hill to Old Town without giving myself ‘outs’ eg. “I’ll get to the corner and then I can stop if I need to… I’ll get to the pine tree and then I can stop if I want to… I’ll get to etc…” Until I reach the top. I was almost there when I realised that my mind had been wandering π weight-wise, I’m still above what makes me happy.
IN THE NEWS: the mall shootings in Kenya. Obviously, although I don’t remember Kenya, it’s a place close to my heart. I read a very interesting article yesterday, it was about how the local (kenyan) media had pounced on this mall being somewhere that only the rich, the corrupt and the white people went so it didn’t matter. World media pounced on the Islamist extremist side of things.
Both quickly lost these points of view when news leaked about the gunmen shooting people who have the correct quotes. When news footage showed black people helping white people out, white people carrying black children. Muslims limping out, arm in arm with poor black people, rich black people, white people. No one there was worried about race or status, they were just helping each other.
READING: my new Sue Grafton book has arrived W is for Wasted. It’s really good so far and could be setting Kinsey up for retirement… Though I can’t see her retiring somehow!
ACTIVITIES TODAY: it would usually be toy library but today is Join Your Child at School morning so Libby and I will be doing that, Tally first and then Lila. Lunchtime I will be meeting up with a friend for lunch (with Libby) and then this aft is a blank slate.
THINKING ABOUT: my training next week, that both training and interview sessions landed on pre-arranged things ie. The interview was Lila’s eye appt (thankfully they changed that for the next day) and the training was my filling (i’ll have to wait another two weeks!).
I must look on the website so I can be All Knowledgeable…
PLANNING: hair wash, get the rubbish sorted and out – I can hear the bin lorry…
The girls have hair appts tomorrow – Tally wants a bob π
And that is all…
Es lo que hace que todavia haya esperanza en el mundo; que cuando nos necesitamos unos a los otros, siempre alguien responde a la llamada. Espero que tengas un buen dia π

Aww I remember when Megan wanted a bob at about that age

Yes it’s a mind thing (the outs) I “counted” when I was running uphill or just felt like I wanted to stop. Taking your mind off what you’re doing is a great way to get past stumbling blocks!

Ah, a solo bath!! Sounds blissful. Hope you had a fun morning in school. X

I finished W is for Wasted the other day π Detective fiction is my guilty pleasure. I’m in the middle of another one right now (Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache series — fabulous) and then it’s back to my nerdy, high brow stuff.

Who’s Libby?

The middle of the night really DOES seem to be the only time to bathe, and by then I just want to wind down with some screen time… guess I’d better start bringing a book with me for entertainment like my mom used to! (Long standing joke between Patrick and I is how he borrowed one of my books while dating and after soaking it in a bath, he STILL has never replaced it! Needless to say, accidentslike that is why I don’t bring books to the bath, lol)

Enjoy your weekend, hope you had a lovely day π x

I’ve got a couple of Sue Grafton books but haven’t got round to reading them yet. They look good though.

RYN: Hey, that IS an idea, thanks! I’ve had problems with sandwich zip-lock bags being leaky, but I have to say those are probably from buying the cheap off-brands, and I’ve never had a problem with actual Ziploc freezer bags. And I’ve got a little B&W Nook that I can use now that you mention it! Not sure if you’re familiar with that brand, it’s Barns & Noble’s answer to the Amazon Kindle. They don’t sell it outside of the US that I’m aware of (leastways I’ve never seen advertisements in Canada), but it’s a hand-me down from a friend. π

Ah, gotcha. I knew you were a childminder, just didn’t realize that Libby was one of your charges.

Ryn: I was trying to decide if you meant the baby would be my son-in-law for one of the girls following in the footsteps of their mother dating younger men….but then decided it was Megans “friend” I have already told her she is not allowed to marry out of the country, Canada is just too far away!
