short and sweet

Like honey or maple syrup… Mmmm. You know, Lila managed to lose our honey this weekend, I found it this morning but I put syrup on a bowl of fruit and natural yogurt last night and it just wasn’t nearly as nice.

Anyway, I’m working so I shouldn’t really be here so just quickly. Just over a week ago I bought some Dr Scholls flip flops with the sole made by orthaheel who made the orthotics I wear, but the orthotics don’t work in sandals and I needed sandals to avoid melted feet! Anyway, once the sandals arrived (last Saturday) I decided that the sole wasn’t orthotic enough, if you see what I mean. There wasn’t enough support and after almost £40 on a pair of flip flips (I know!) I wasn’t going to let them fester and become cobweb attractors so I went to a shoe shop called shuropidy in town who sell sensible shoes and orthotics to see about an extra support to put in. £22 later I had special sandal orthotics. Yup, the most expensive non designer flip flops in history!

However yesterday it dawned on me that I’ve hardly felt any pain or discomfort this week.

Whoo to the hop people! I may be on the mend!

Although, let’s not speak too soon…

I’m glad you are on the mend, hugs!!

ooh, thanks for the reminder, I need more supportive sandals! My doc marten ones are better than normal, but I’m off to look for cheap Merrells on ebay anyway…

If you’re not in any pain, then it was money well spent! I hope they last for you!

Glad you got some insoles sorted out. Yay for no pain! x

Yay for good insoles and no pain 🙂 xxx

oh good, I’m glad that is working for you. Amazing how attention to our feet can help the rest of the body!

RYN: Yes, almond milk is supposed to replace cow’s milk. I was looking to find out proper directions on how to dry the leftover meal in the oven without scorching it, and came across a website that claimed almond milk was used in medieval times a lot and also why it’s still popular in India all this time when milk might easily spoil (as whole nuts are very easy to store). I thought almondmilk was supposed to be cheaper than cow’s milk, but Patrick informed me it isn’t, so I don’t know how often we’ll be making it. 1c of almonds weighs about 1/2 lb and only makes ~1L. Patrick said the cost was ~$4, and I can buy a 4L carton of milk for $5.50. He did read some blogs stating that asian food stores tend to carry it for less, plus we have a few wholesale stores to check out, so it may continue to be in our future or it may not. Soy milk is made the same way and homemade is VERY cheap, but I have read testimonies from moms that their little girls at age THREE were developing breast buds because of all the phytoestrogens and replacing their dairy with it. We’ve tried store-bought soy milk and no one was fussy for it, but I’d be interested in trying to make some at home and seein

*seeing if we like it. The key of course is moderation… too much of anything is bad for you! It’s funny that I’ve been wanting to buy a book on how to make tofu for a year just to see if I like it better than store-bought, and Patrick thought “yuck, tofu!” but now that he wants to stretch the food budget, he’s all on board 😛

sounds like money well spent…
