This weekend, Ayeka and I took a shot at curling.
Seriously.
Stop laughing.
The National Curling Center is only about forty-five minutes from our home, so when we heard they were having an open house, we thought we’d take a gander and see how it plays. It doesn’t look like the most athletic sport on television – we certainly could take a shot at it. So, bright and early on Sunday, we found ourselves in the car on the way to the center to hopefully get a quick lesson….
Actually, the mechanics of the game are about as easy as they look. It’s a lot more physically intensive than it looks on TV, and there’s strategy that we’re certainly not yet up to figuring out… but it really looks like something we could get into.
Oh, the title? Yeah… a lot of folks were falling on their tails. Trying to push off when one of your feet is covered in teflon, and the other’s resting on a forty-two pound rock that you’re releasing isn’t a great way to keep your balance…
Damn!!!! I dig the game.. not that I watch it alot… I got friends that went to the oplympics.. they are good.. The city where I am at has alot of good players…. I cant picture a great writer like u with a broom or a stone.. My best to u …

Curling is one of those sports that I mock lightly on the surface but find myself watching on tv every four years. 🙂 xx
