smoothing out my blood
the seasons turning
as the view goes from dull grey
to living color
an eternity
passes with every brush stroke
smoothing out my blood
the world shrinking down
to only that which peers back
from the waiting card…
[3:00 PM]
I’m finally underway with the latest edition of my holiday cards.
It’s amazing, how hard it is sometimes to find time to just sit down and paint. I’ve been dragging my feet in more ways than one – lately it’s been due to haigaonline’s new policy regarding publication, but also because I’ve had plenty of excuses not to paint. From wanting to spend time with Ayeka to trying to deal with a minor personal issue (solely) on my end to waiting to buy new brushes (as I ‘loaned’ some of my watercolor brushes to Ayeka to let her do detailed touch-ups with latex as she painted the house)… I’ve been putting it off and putting it off, even after I said that I wouldn’t do that again this year.
The final setback seems to be paper – Michael’s is no longer stocking (at least locally) the watercolor cards that I usually use. I’ve been trying to find packs where I can, but the suggested substitute – their ‘creative cards’ are no good for what I am doing this year. *sigh* So I have thirty done through the first stage of several, but I need to still get twenty more, maybe tomorrow.
That seems to be our song at the moment – maybe tomorrow…
It’s just painful to be taking this long to get it done…
yayyyy for completion. xx
