Parties, Puffy Tacos, and Politics, Oh My!
It’s Fiesta time in San Antonio – woot! It’s time to go to Night in Old San Antonio and pay too much money for food and beer, while having a damn good time. Seriously, I haven’t been to NIOSA in over 15 years, so I’m looking forward to it. I hope J doesn’t decide to be a fuddy-duddy, but I intend on having fun regardless. I love her so much, but she REALLY needs to lighten up at times. We’re going to drive to a “Park and Ride” and take a bus downtown. That is the only sensible way to get to Fiesta. Otherwise, parking spaces are scarcer than an enlightened George W Bush advisor and more expensive than a Defense Department toilet seat.
While I’m on the subject of San Antonio, I must extol the virtue of puffy tacos, which were created here in SA. Basically, a corn tortilla is fried in oil until it puffs. It is then formed into a taco shape and filled with beef or chicken, lettuce, tomato, and shredded cheese. YUMMY! It has a texture different than any other type of taco. Saturday morning, J and I stumbled on a dive that makes the best puffy and breakfast tacos I’ve had since moving to SA. Plus, it is dirt cheap, which is the hallmark of good taquerias everywhere.
I cannot believe it is 2007, and it seems like the country is already deep in the middle of election season. WHY? The election is in November 2008! I don’t care who has raised the most money at this point. I don’t care who the front-runners are. All I know is George II is doing his utmost to ensure the next president will be a Democrat. I will not vote for Romney, because he flip-flops on issues and his hair is too perfect, while mine is perfectly absent. I will not vote for McCain, because he flip-flops. I won’t be able to vote for Giuliani, because the right-wing Evangelicals won’t allow him to get the Republican nomination. I won’t vote for Hillary because of Bill. Assuming Gore enters the race, I won’t vote for him, because he rants and raves about America’s role in “global warming,” while ignoring the pollution of China and India. Obama is interesting, but I don’t know enough about him to make an informed decision. Edwards is full of shit, so he’s out. Fred Thompson is gathering momentum, but I wonder, who is supporting Fred Thompson, and who is supporting his character on “Law and Order?” Actually, I may have to write in a candidate. Maybe I’ll vote for Martin Sheen. Jed Bartlett in ’08!
Well, I tried Kinky Friedman for governor…. but to no avail!

I figure we will know more about the candidates when it’s closer to time. And then we will have to weed through the media hype to really figure out what is true and what isn’t and hopefully believe the truth.

I’m actually kind of interested in Biden. He has some definite potential.

2 questions: 1. Will you please explain why you say Edwards is a piece of shit? Not questioning you, not being snarky, just ‘need to know’. I haven’t heard anything negative about him thus far. Please enlighten me? 2. Where are these puffy tacos you speak of? I’m so picky about puffy tacos.. there’s only ONE place in Austin that I’ll order them. I will be in S. A. early next month.Need to know where these cheap delicious puffy tacos can be found! Thanks!
