Yearbook 2012..Earning Your Stripes

One of my favorite jobs is that of co-editor of our school yearbook.  It is absolutely the coolest thing to work with two other ladies in my school to layout a really cool yearbook. Some I have liked better than others.  This year’s book was absolutely the best!  I loved the cover, layouts, articles, captions, and photos.  The thing I love the most about this yearbook is that it was 100% student driven.  All of the captions and articles were written by students in several of our advanced studies courses. Those kids were amazing!  They worked with a passion unlike any I’ve seen in a while.  They checked, checked again, and triple checked.

Every student in our school receives a yearbook.  They fundraise for them in the beginning of the year.  You cannot believe how amazing it is for those cartons to arrive at school.  The kids know exactly when they arrive.  Ours have been here for weeks. The kids could seriously feel the vibe that they had arrived.  Nancy, Katrina, and I immediately cruised down to the library conference room where they were stored and poured over the pages.

The kids received them yesterday.  I love to watch them poor over the book from cover to cover.  They’re absolutely are in awe!  They looked at every picture and read every word.  They passed them from friend to friend for autographs.  I love signing every single one of them.  It is quite the challenge to find something unique to leave with all my students.  I manage every single year.

This year is quickly coming to a close.  The majority of these kiddos have "Earned Their Stripes."  Look out high school!  They are coming over and are certainly ready to make their place in your world!

I think it’s great that they all get one. I still like to go through mine occasionally. Did you eliminate your last entry? Just as I was saving my comment, a note came up saying I didn’t have access.

This is almost like a sales pitch.. lol. Ya made me a believer that you love and enjoy being apart of this and that the students did an excellent job. That is cool that every student gets one. It would be fun watching the kids go through the new book in awe. It’s a creative title… *Earning your Stripes*
