Seriously!

One of the things that teachers covet are snow days.  My goal this year was to make the year without having one single day.  Thus far the weather has cooperated and we have not so much as spotted a single flake……until last night.  The wind was howling at forty miles an hour, snow was blowing, and the temperatures dropped like a rock.  I said to my husband, "They are going to call it."  He didn’t seem to think this would happen with just an inch of snow predicted.

Well, he was right about the inch of snow, but he was oh so wrong about them calling school.  There it was…..our district’s name on the TV along with only one other school.  Seriously!  Every other school in the state of Missouri was open and we called it on an 1/8th of an inch of snow.  Something just does not seem right about this.

I want you to know that I am not complaining.  I had actually taken a day off from work to have some tests run.  Having missed so much school due to illness, I was elated that I could go to the doctor and have then spend the afternoon with a little minor surgical procedure and not have to burn my personal time off.  It did really stink to put together all those sub plans for them to just lay on my desk untouched was a bummer.

Oh well, as my granddaughter says, "You get what you get and you don’t throw a fit."  I am learning that there is little that I control these days and those plans will be there for next Friday.  Totally works for me!

Now we’ll probably have a 2 week long blizzard and they’ll wish they hadn’t burned the day.
