Why?
Why can’t I sleep? I know that my sleep cycle is all messed up, but at the same time, I should be exausted. And I know I will be tomorrow. It is going to be hard to sleep long enough in the car, but I am sure I will manage it. It has just been a fairly stressful day and I really want to go to sleep, and I have to be up in three and a half hours. But I am sitting here typing instead of trying to sleep.
I think that I am going to kill my doctor. My Blood pressure has been all over the map and it is starting to worry me. First he puts me on bed rest, which makes sense. Then, when I start having dizzy spells, he sends me up to the hospital to have a NST. That made sense too. Today my hands and feet were a little swollen and had poofed earlier in the week quite amazingly, so he makes me lay down on my side to take my bloodpressure… what exactly does that do? Then he tells me not to worry about it, and we go on with the checkup, at the end he decideds that I need ANOTHER NST this week (after the one last week that was fine). I go in, the baby is fine, but my BP readings are high again. So they call him because they are worried about them and he decides that they are no big deal, just to continue to take it easy. The nurse adds that if I see spots or have pain in my chest, to call her at the hospital instead. She did not seem impressed with his diagnosis. What am I supposed to do? Do I not worry about it? Or do I call the hospital at each little problem? And after talking to the nurse, I find out that dizzyness can be a sign of Pre-eclapsia, which is what they are worried about with me. But my doctor is just treating it as vertigo instead! When I told the nurse that she just shook her head and told me to call her if I needed anything. I am so confused!
Maybe now that I have gotten that out of my system I will be able to sleep. At the very least I can put my very cold feet under my husbands body and make him move over! (bed hog!)
Ah, I know the feeling–I can’t sleep for more than 2 hours at a time anymore(if that) and it’s NOT helping! That sucks about your doctor–maybe he was wanting to do something like BP tilts? That’s where they’ll check your BP laying down, sitting up, and standing up–I’ve had it done to check for dehydration, though, which doesn’t make sense in this case. I dunno. I’d keep calling for EVERYTHING.

If you lay on your side it takes all the weight off of your abdominal aorta. If you have alot of weight resting on your aorta it can mess up your blood pressure. When I was in labor my blood pressure was in the 200’s. The docs made me lay on my side and it got better, which means there wasnt really anything wrong with me like hypertension..just that the baby was resting on my aorta.
