Seven Months

So, one downside of being "out of touch" with Open Diary lately is that I’ve hardly kept up with those monthly and milestone entries about my kids–especially baby Jasper!  Of course Instagram has been a pretty awesome way to capture snippits of everyday life, but I just feel like I need to WRITE about him, too.

He is an awesome baby.  I know, I know… every mom says that but he IS.

He is also SEVEN MONTHS OLD.

How did THAT happen?  I must have blinked.  But then I think about those early days when I was an emotional wreck and nursing was toe-curling painful (soooo glad that’s over!) and it seems like a million years ago.  Nursing now is a breeze and we are totally in sync.  He is a very efficient eater and can finish both sides in less than 10 minutes and is ready to play!  At the same time, he does take a bottle now and then and had his first bottle of formula the other day.  I found that the minimal days he goes to daycare I just haven’t gotten enough to pump a full day supply.  So I bought a box of those individual packets to send along.  Once he finishes the frozen breastmilk he can drink that.  He has only had to once or twice but it’s nice to know he is accepting of it.  Well adjusted baby!

He is such a happy little guy and thanks to the sleep program he is also a really good napper/sleeper.  He is napping 2-3 times a day but it’s getting closer to 2 naps a day, one mid morning and one in the afternoon.  Bedtime is around 7PM.  He still wakes up at night here and there but it’s not a huge deal..most of the time :).  He nurses a bit and then back into his crib.  He rolls over and goes back to sleep.  No pacifier–no sleep props.  Go Jasper!  This is like the total opposite from Wesley, although I will never regret what we did with him–it worked when we had one child, when we lived in our old house, etc… having 2 kids now it’s just worked out better for us to have everyone in their own beds.  Both kids are well adjusted, healthy, and happy (most of the time!)  You can’t ask for much more

He is basically crawling now, too.  He does an "army crawl" but can make it completely across the room while my back is turned!  Going to have to buy baby gates very soon I’m thinking.

He can get back up to sitting (I call it the bear cub sit) from the crawl position, and is just starting to pull up in his crib.  Time to lower the mattress!

He weighs 21 pounds.  The doctor says he is "tall" for his age.  He’s going to be tall dark and handsome!

And so much more.  He is squishy and soft and that perfect baby stage.  I want to hang onto this as long as I can, and I enjoy every single day with him and his big brother.  I still can’t believe he is mine…

Impromptu session the other day in the backyard.  Down by the river, in the wispy
grass under the shade of giant trees… I love it here.  So so much.

But more often than not, I have my trusty iPhone at my side, and that does a pretty incredible job of capturing every day life.
And those are some of the best photos, too…

And so much more!

Having a baby like Jasper makes me want to have more…. someday… 🙂

sweet brotherly love 🙂

I think you need a girl to bring up the rear! 😛

I can’t believe he is only a month older than my daughter. She JUST rolled over last week. I was starting to get worried, but she finally did it. I wasn’t concerned about her strength overall since she can sit and stand up if we put her like that and stands holding our hands all the time. I’m glad the sleeping is going so well for you! My daughter is a champion sleeper 99% of the time. She’s a huge routine girl…if get routine is thrown off, then it’s all thrown off. My husband doesn’t seem to totally understand that concept. Your boys are absolutely adorable! So photogenic and happy!

Your boys are gorgeous!!

You have such sweet kiddos.

I’m blown away by how fast time is going right now. Wasn’t he born just last month?!

Cutie pie!

You have two of the most handsome boys I’ve seen – seriously. You’re so blessed.

My heart goes all aflutter seeing these sibling photos, as does Jasper sucking on his bottom lip! (P.S. – that playmat in the last photo is divine! A friend of mine had the same with her daughter and I admired it for months; I would have bought it when we had our baby but we were given another mat by relatives).
