Instructions, Meat Loaf, Audiologist and Reading.
- You know, if you had asked me did I prefer instructions as pictures or written I would have said pictures. But it turns out that pictures only really confused me. I was looking at the instruction book for my Dyson vacuum yesterday trying to figure out how to empty the container with all the dirt. {I actually had done this before entirely by accident and had emptied it all over the floor. } So, I looked at the nice drawings of how to do all these things with arrows and various other aids and eventually figured it out. Then I went to the back of the book where the instructions were written in words and in small print and were obviously an afterthought and found that I understood that much more easily! I thought maybe it was easier because I had already looked at the pictures, so I first went to the written instructions as to how to get the extension part out from the handle and then did it. I am, apparently, NOT good at getting instructions from pictures…
- I just finished making a meat loaf and had a couple of slices in a sandwich for lunch. I will have about half the rest with mashed potatoes for my evening meal.
- Tomorrow I go to have my hearing checked. And in a week I go to have my glaucoma looked at again. I am taking the same medication in the same amount as I did when I was in Vermont but this prescription is not just liquid like water but a gel which I drop in my eyes once a day. At first, I didn’t like it because I was used to the drops, but I decided to give it a fair chance. After almost a month, I now prefer it. No more liquid running down my face!
- I have finished reading the first three Poldark books by Winston Graham and discovered that the eponymous Jeremy Poldark of the third book has turned out to be Ross and Demelza’s son. I am now watching the television series made from the books and am spending a lot of time muttering, "NONONONO!!! It didn’t happen like that!" I am also now reading Craig Johnson’s Walt Longmire series. Yes, I know they are a TV series but I haven’t watched any of them yet and probably won’t.

i like to look at the pictures, then read the instructions if they have them to read and then, i read them one at a time and look at the pictures. makes it easier for me. meat loaf sounds good. i don’t like to read a book and then see it on tv. guess i’ll have to see how the outlander series turns out on tv. the books are great. take care,

I have to have pictures and instructions…I guess I have to learn two ways. I usually hate movies based on books. They always change them and the book is better. I read Mary Poppins to some kids once who had seen the movie, and they liked the book MUCH better!

So glad to hear that you’re enjoying the Poldark novels! And yes, I did that too when watching the series. I understand why they did it, but still… When it comes to knitting or crocheting, I have to see how to do it, and the written instructions leave me confused.

So far I have found pictures to be very helpful in assembling furniture and other things. It’s all tedious, though, and I wish everything came pre-assembled.

When I have to do an unfamiliar task I’ll first check on Google and look for a link to some kind of discussion board or YouTube video. It is mind numbing the information that is on the internet!

I have a Dyson and I find that the instructions can be puzzling.

Some things I can look at pictures and figure out, most times that is not the case though. I get easily confused.
