Going to the Doctor
This morning I have an appointment with my primary doctor. It is a routine visit to be sure I can get my prescriptions renewed. She is, I know, going to ask me if I have made an appointment with the kidney doctor. The answer is no because going on what my urologist back in Vermont said, I don’t feel I need a urologist on standby, so to speak. The REAL answer is that I am sick of going to doctors. Since I moved from Vermont to North Carolina I know that visits to my new doctors are a necessity, but I want to be doing things and going places that are not appointments with doctors and visits to doctors’ offices!
I noticed this morning that I am only a little apprehensive about getting on the interstate to get to the doctor’s office. So, this is an improvement in my thinking. I haven’t thought about calling and canceling the appointment because of fear. Yes, there are interstates in Vermont and I drove on them but they were not six lanes and it did not matter one bit that I was in the wrong lane! {In fact, it think I have already mentioned that I wasn’t aware then that my GPS actually indicated the lanes I needed to be in when I lived there!} My objective today is to get to the doctor’s office without the GPS having to "recalculate" at all!
In a total change of subject, I had a shower this morning but I am still smelling –albeit very faintly–the onions on my hands from supper yesterday! Time to break out the lemon juice…
“That which we persist in doing becomes easier. It is not that the task itself has become easier, but that our ability to perform it has improved.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
You hit on keeping dr. appts. exactly – you do it to get your prescriptions renewed. Of course, it is smart to have your blood tests taken, but those visits seem to roll around too fast.

Ugh, I hate doctors so much that if I ever get to the point in my life where doctor visits are so frequent, I might just stay home and let nature take its course. Of course that’s easy to say NOW. We’ll see what happens when I get there.

I do hope it goes all right. And I understand about the doctors, it can be so frustrating.
