Still in NC

I feel very much better today than I did yesterday. I woke up hungry {a good sign} and not tired  at 6 am and made myself a cup of tea and some toast. About an hour after that, I went back to bed again!  I fell asleep only to be woken by "your cat" as I shall explain to Jake tonight "jumping on my feet!" There are actually two cats here but Rocky is always the one that does annoying  things.  Nimbus, the other cat, is black, smaller and a bit lighter {but they are both hefty cats} and a much better behaved cat.

I think the only thing I am going  to do today is to buy a few necessary groceries. I do have the addresses of two more apartment complexes to put into the GPS but I am not excited about going out there. Maybe tomorrow. What I really want is to hear from the contractor who came out to price adding a small  "granny" apartment on to Jake’s house. There is another one coming on Saturday morning but I will be back in VT by the time I get the assessment from him… And, if we can afford it, it will be three months at least before I can move in.

I have been working on and off in the 642 Things to Draw book At the moment, I am not working through it in order but just as I become inspired. I bought some cheap colored pencils and am now adding a bit of color interest  to the drawings. I am also reading the How to Cook Everything: the Basics book I bought and I may yet take it home with me. Unlike the drawing book, this works pretty well from easy to harder in each section and I am finding it very interesting. Again, it is, as most cook books are, full of recipes for 4 to 6 servings but I can reduce amounts of the ingredients pretty well.

OK, time to put my laundry into the drier and then off to grocery shop.

Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone. ~Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers)

You are not happy because you are well. You are well because you are

happy. You are not depressed because trouble has come to you, but

trouble has come to you because you are depressed. You can change

your thoughts and feelings, and then the outer things will come to

correspond, and indeed there is no other way of working.

I tend to have a cat planted on me or around me every morning, or when I am reading in my chair. There always seems to be one parked nearby, waiting for a goodie handout, no doubt.

or freeze things? then you don’t have to cook as often…

Tucker is the pouncer in my house. When 4:00 a.m. rolls around he’s happy to let you know it’s time to get up and play with him! Loving man-cat that he is 🙂 I hope my kids want to put a granny room on their house for me someday…how that’s love.

I do not like being awakened by animals either! That is why we stopped having housepets. When I’m in bed, I like to be the one to wake me up….well, or the alarm, if it MUST. I’m glad you were feeling better today! :o) !! hugs, Nicky

I really hope that the granny apt idea works out for you. It is working out so nicely for me and my mom. She loves her granny flat that is attached to my house – and I love having her essentially inside my house. However she is still independent right now, but if things ever change, I am in the same house and can look after her.

The granny apartment would be wonderful. Hope it works out.

RYN: Thanks! I think she could really do something with art in the future, if that’s what she wants to do.

I wish I could be woken up by a cat grabbing my feet..both of mine think it is appropriate to grab at my face:/

I wonder how much luck one would have if they searched for a cookbook geared towards bachelors… Thought of you yesterday as I was driving through downtown Fort Worth and noticed that one of the older (but nice) hotels has been converted into ‘senior’ apartments. There was a huge banner across the front of the building advertising “55 and up. All inclusive. No more bills!”
