Saturday Stuff

  • I went to bed about 9:30 last night and slept through until around 3 am. Then I reached over to the table beside my bed and got the Kindle Fire. Because the screen is back lit, I didn’t have to turn the light on.  I went back to sleep at 4 am and slept until 9:30! That is very late for me. But I obviously needed the sleep because I felt very well and had energy this morning.
  • When I got to see Fred, he told me that there was something wrong with my cell phone which he is using so he doesn’t have to go down the hall to the main desk to use the telephone! It was demanding money and, apart from that, it was inactive. I got very irritated because I had it organized to take the required amount every three months via a credit card so  I didn’t have to bother with it. I called them and after a lot of Press 1 and Press 2, finally got to speak to a real person. {Actually, this service is new. The last time I had to call them, there was no way to speak to anyone but a robot!} Anyway, the bottom line is it is back in business. And guess what? It was all my fault. {No. I am not being sarcastic–it really was!} I had been called by Master Card minions a couple of months ago asking me had I charged a laptop and had it sent to California? I could have done the first part, but no way would I send it to California! So, I canceled that card and got a new one. I thought I had gone to every site I use on line and changed the card number but I had forgotten Virgin Mobile! So, I gave them the new number and Fred will be thrilled to get the phone back on Monday!
  • Incidentally, in case you were wondering, this card is not linked to my main account. I keep a much smaller account for on-line purchases and after I order something on line, I transfer exactly the amount of the new purchase to this account–so there is no way anyone could clean out my account because there is just enough money in there over and above the cost of the purchase, to keep the account  active. I love the convenience of buying on line and I also love LOVE  the ability to transfer money easily and quickly between accounts.
  • Fred’s daughter will be going to see him tomorrow and I am staying home and organizing myself to do some housecleaning!

That’s so annoying when credit cards are either changed or expire and I have to go around and re-install them in all my accounts. I’m glad you got it fixed so easily.

Banking on line is a godsend as far as I am concerned! Glad to hear the phone thing got sorted out, that must have been annoying as all get out.

That backlit feature is the one that would sell me on an e-reader.

You have a very smart system in place for dealing with on-line purchases!

Companies always seem to go to great lengths to avoid letting the customer speak to a real person don’t they?
