Yuck!

  • I just got back from 5 days in our local hospital where I apparently had an infection in my bowels…
  • And, apparently, I was VERY dehydrated which is definitely not a Good Thing when one has a bowel infection and bloody diarrhea. {Mind you, offhand, I cannot imagine a situation where constant, not to mention bloody, diarrhea is a Good Thing}
  • Antibiotics are life savers. The whole time I was there, someone seemed to be hanging a saline-with-potassium drip and bag full of an antibiotic to drip into me.
  • One of the worst parts was having no solid food for three days. {I used to like broth!}
  • The two days where I could order food from the Real Food Menu were amazing!
  • Everyone I came in contact with at the hospital was kind and reassuring,
  • On the other hand, today it took the hospital minions three-and-a-half hours to process the paperwork before I could go home. {I timed it.} And another one and a quarter hours before the ordered wheelchair-with-attendant-pusher turned up to take me down the area where I could get a taxi home.
  • I got home to find a 12 messages on the phone and a huge pile of snail mail which I will sort tomorrow. Most of it will go into the recycling bag.
  • I was in bed and asleep by 6:30 only to be blasted awake by two separate telemarketers trying to sell me something. Normally, they hear the "Please leave your name and number" message and then hang up. But while Fred is in rehab, I pick the phone up before the message in case it is him…

Its really too bad that you have suffered this illness right now. You must be exhausted from the infection and the worry about Fred. Hope your recovery is rapid. Make sure you take it easy, even though its hard in the current circumstances.

That sounds most unpleasant!! I hope you feel better soon!

Well, I guess now you know why you were feeling so run-down before. Ugh. Sounds like a horrible ordeal, and how inconvenient for both of you to be laid up at the same time! So how did you get there? Did you have to call an ambulance? Glad you are on the mend. And a pox on the telemarketers!

Your virus sounds so much like what I live on a daily basis with my crohns. It’s horrible isn’t it? Yet, when I was still working my bosses would expect me to be there every day. Uhh nope, don’t think so. I AM glad to hear that you are feeling better though. try to take it easy for a few days still and don’t overdo things, Hugs, M

Glad you’re better and at home. Hope you’ve seen the last of the illness. Please take care of yourself.

i’m so glad to hear you are better and back home. it takes hospitals forever to process you out. now, you can go see fred. i hate those telemarketers that call at night. you have to answer just in case it’s fred. take care,

Thank goodness they caught it in time. I’m just relieved that you’re alright and back home. There is a website run by the government that will take your number off of those telemarketer lists for good– http://www.donotcall.gov/ Awfully handy it is too.

*hugs*
