Fred Is in Hospital
- Fred is in hospital. He woke me to get him a telephone and he called 911 at three am on Friday morning
- To put this into perspective, this is the same man who refused to go to the emergency room when "*I* called 911 two days before. He was in severe pain, did not know who I was and wasn’t able to have a coherent conversation with anyone at that time. His own doctor and the emergency room doctor called him to encourage him to go. The EMTs spent an hour and a half trying to persuade him but then the situation was that He Knew Better…
- We were there in the emergency room for over 12 hours. Fred had Good Drugs and slept a lot. Fortunately, I remembered to put my Kindle in my purse and to take my cane with me.
- He had a CAT scan and because "something" was also detected in his lower back, an MRI a little later.
- We were told that the "something" at that point seemed to be inflammation. He agreed to be admitted. {This is a Big Thing because he has a history of not only refusing to go into hospitals but also of checking himself out of hospitals AMA.}
- Serendipitously, one of his daughters was visiting the other who lives here in Vermont which means they both saw him in the emergency room and when he was admitted.
- I went home since I had not had a complete night’s sleep for five nights. Unfortunately, it seems that my body is now "trained" to wake up after sleeping three hours…
- Since he was taken to the emergency room wearing only underpants, I have instructions from him to bring clothes today. This will help him to Make His Escape when he feels better… {insert eye roll here}
- If I didn’t love him, I would leave him.
- I am now going back to bed to try for another three hours sleep…

You know I sympathize with you completely!! And when a person is incoherent and his/her loved one calls for the ambulance, that person should not be ALLOWED to refuse to go to the ER, in my most unhumble opinion. The medical establishment’s rules do not make it easier for the people having to take care of these ones who are sick! All that being said…. I am going to pray to the heavens that Fredwill stay IN THE HOSPITAL until he is well enough to come home!!!!! ((((((((((((huuuuuuuuuugggggggggggsssssssssss))))))))))) Nicky

Give him my best!… Poor guy must have been in serious pain in order to go… I hope he can come home soon.

thinking of you and Fred today….

Wow. I hope he gets well quick and stops being so darn stubborn. It’s hard enough having to deal with someone who is sick, let alone someone who is sick and insists that they’re NOT. Ugh.

I hope Fred can do the exercise and walk safely again. It will be hard. After going through an exhausting 6 months with my father in hospital, I fully endorse your self-preservation course of action. It is very important that you remain healthy and strong right now.

None of us want to believe we are ill or that such pain could suddenly come upon us, so we tend to hope it is not real and it will go away…sounds like the ills went away but came back on Fred, hope he gets better soon.
