Bits and Bobs*

EDIT: Now, this is odd! I wrote this yesterday and have no notes. And when I looked at my list of entries, it wasn’t there!

  • So far, we have only had rain from Irene. But the tops of the trees are beginning to move.
  • I have a brand new phone and answering machine ready to hook up for three days. I am really going to get it going today. The great things about it are, first, it was on sale at Amazon, and next, it has two other phones with it. This means I will no longer have to take the phone to Fred when his daughters call. Now I can just yell, "Pick up the phone, Fred!"
  • Go here and look at the sketchbook project. I joined and my sketchbook arrived a few days ago. It looks like fun and I am having a grand time thinking and planning.
  • I am somewhat irritated that the DVD I bought from here doesn’t seem to work on my Mac. I went back to the site to see if I had overlooked this but, no, it says nothing about using with Windows only. I sent email to the site artist/owner and we shall see. I upgraded to the latest version of Adobe but still nothing happened. I have a feeling that there is something simple I am not doing… Anyone who has any ideas is welcome to let me know!!!
  • My friend K. with whom I have been doing two hours of art every Thursday asked if I could meet her on Wednesday this week since she has a very busy schedule on Thursday afternoon and she said she is beginning to feel a lot of pressure. Well, as I told her, my time is my own — so Wednesday is fine with me. Last time I went she presented me with a goodie-bag of of tissue paper and ribbons which were all in colors I use a lot ! She likes pink, yellow, pale blue and have I mentioned pink? I like purple, brown, deep reds, gold and did I mention purple? So, as soon as she opened her latest Box from Blicks and saw these colors among the stuff she had ordered she promptly put them aside for me.
  • The previous paragraph has reminded me I need to get some art stuff from the car left there from last Thursday. Our neighbors have moved their cars away from under the trees…
  • OK, on with the day!

"We don’t just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary." – Booker T. Washington.

"We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers – but never blame yourself. It’s never your fault. But it’s always your fault, because if you wanted to change you’re the one who has got to change." — Katherine Hepburn
