Dyes and Eyes*

EDIT: If you have been reading me for a while, you might remember that the ophthalmologist I have now is the one that stresses me out. Well, I decided before I went that this wasn’t going to happen this time and so I made a point of asking him questions so he would HAVE to talk to me.{The previous ophthalmologist was very friendly and chatty.}Things went a lot better this time because every time he told me something like the pressure reading of the eyes, I asked him a question. Things were also easier because he had a 4th year med student, introduced as Ron,  with him who asked questions and listened to the answers! However, I was a little taken aback to find that Ron didn’t know to pull down the lower part of the eye to make a pocket to put the drop in. Apparently, if you don’t, the liquid can splash out and startle the patient! Yep! I was a fine example of this!

I spent a fair amount of time this morning using fabric dye on bits of white fabric. I will have to iron them for heat setting tomorrow. I covered my table with wax paper and got some interesting random designs when I lifted the painted fabric up and put a clean piece of fabric on what was left on the wax paper!  Also today the opaque fabric paint I ordered was delivered. It is supposed to work on leather so I will try it on a pair of black sandals I have. If it works, I will call my book group friend J. and tell her that if she still wants me to, I can paint on her white leather sandals!

I had an appointment with the ophthalmologist today. I have glaucoma and the pressure in my eyes is where it was six months ago which is good. The bad part is I have a small bleed in my left eye. He says it is not serious but he wants to see me in three months rather than in six. My eyes feel really uncomfortable now because so many liquids have been put in them followed by bright lights shining into them, too. I finished by having an unscheduled dilation of my eyes and pictures taken so that he can compare how they are now with how they are in three months. My appointment was at 2:30 and I got home at 4:30. I hate afternoon appointments. The doctor is always running late and it isn’t the best time of day for me either. My next appointment in three months is at 11 am!

I like morning appointments, too. Hope they’re able to fix the problem.

Morning appointments are the best! I like getting things over and done with. The fabric dying sounds interesting.

I’m with you; I also hate afternoon appointments! It seems like the waiting time gets longer as the day progresses. And it’s just nice to get things over-n-done-with! hugs, Nicky

I hate afternoon appts too. Take some pictures of your fabric painting. I am interested in them.

I hate afternoon appointments too. I have glaucoma too, but mine is normal tension/angle closure glaucoma, so they can’t dilate my eyes or they can cause a blowout. Nice. lol

i prefer appointments in the morning, too… the earlier the better for me. would love to see some of the fabric you’ve dyed. take care,

I don’t like medical appointments early or late, but not really early for sure. What you are dealing with would make me very tense! So, good for you. You are brave in my view.
