Brief Update

  • We are having cool weather most of the day although we have the air conditioner on in the bedroom at night because neither of us can sleep if we are hot.
  •  I have been working mostly with hand dying bits of cloth this week. It is interesting and I am learning a lot. Some of what I have been trying has been emphatically unsuccessful but I have learned a lot, especially in the field of correcting errors!Tomorrow I go to K.’s house and I will continue with this but adding different kinds of paper. Then I am going to use the different papers in a collage.
  • I bought groceries today and remembered to put the bag-with-wheels I bought for art supplies into the car to see if it would also help with bringing in groceries. The hardest part was getting the bag up three steps because the wheels kept getting caught under the step part. I think it will get better with more practice. Or, I could lift the bag up three steps and think of it as weightlifting!

"We don’t just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary." – Booker T. Washington.

"We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers – but never blame yourself. It’s never your fault. But it’s always your fault, because if you wanted to change you’re the one who has got to change." — Katherine Hepburn

after seeing some of your other art work, i’m sure this collage will be wonderful. take care,

As long as it’s not too heavy! I hope you can post photos of your project. I’ve always enjoyed admiring your art 🙂

My mum dyes her own wool….that she spins. She had had some very interesting errors. LOL! I hated living in a place with an elevator that rarely worked. There seems to be no easy way to bring them in!!

What you need is a board you could lay over the steps and use as a ramp for pulling the cart up! Probably a bit of plywood cut to the right size would work and would not be too heavy for you to lay down and pick up. I want to make a collage! I have lots of old clothes I could cut up and use. Hmmmm. I just love hearing about your artwork, even if I never do it myself….but I might do some this fall! :o) !! hugs, Nicky

Yes please post your collage when it’s done!

The ramp idea sounds good for wheeling the bag over the steps.

I too would love to see photos of the finished product!!

That Booker T. Washington quote is reminescent of a conversation I had with my brother-in-law who grew up in the UK just last night! 🙂

I think you’ll get the hang of it with a little practice. Maybe just change the angle so that the handle is tilted downward a little bit and that will force the wheels to pop out from under the lip of the stair. Probably something simple like that.

I’d love to see your collage too. You do the most interesting of things.

Like the others I’d like a picture of the finished collage. I’m going to do the bleach trick in my drains tonight…I’ve been plagued by the dreaded fruit flies too…..thanks for the tip!!
