Fruit Flies, Leaping DVDs and Lutradur
So, this morning I went around the house doing the Evil Laugh of Doom as I inspected the fruit-fly catchers! They worked very well. {If you have no idea what I am talking about, go back one entry!} It struck me as very odd that we had fruit flies in the bathroom but then I realized that was the only sink I hadn’t poured bleach down– so I did that this evening!
Oh, and I think I have found out why my DVDs now LEAP out of the slot and shoot to the back of the desk. I took a good look at the slot in the monitor {I have an IMac} they go into and come out of, and apparently there was a piece of fabric which feels like suede in there and now it is sticking out of the slot. I assume it was there to slow down the DVD coming out. And now if the fabric isn’t there to slow it down, out it shoots! I have now learned to put my hand up when I push the appropriate button to eject the DVD and gently prevent the disk leaping to the back of the desk!
A few days ago, I bought a neat little rolling utility cart {look at # 4} to put into my cart and to carry the art supplies I take each week to K.’s house. She is always very good at helping me bring them in and take them out again at the end of the two hours, but my motto lately is, in as far as possible, to manage for myself, and this cute little thing will not only help me get stuff into and out of K’s house, but also to get groceries from my car into our apartment! I will have to get it up two steps but that is doable. So, we shall see. I also have to plan what I am going to work on for two hours. I have recently bought some Lutradur which is a totally non-tree "paper" and I may fiddle around with that and see what I can do. I also have a book called Fabulous Fabric Art with Lutradur which contains ideas for not only crafts but also mixed media art. I like trying new things.
"We don’t just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary." – Booker T. Washington.
"We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers – but never blame yourself. It’s never your fault. But it’s always your fault, because if you wanted to change you’re the one who has got to change." — Katherine Hepburn
Oh, I LIKE that cart! It would definitely come in handy for hauling things around and you could even drag it up the stairs if you had to. I wonder which fruit fly catcher you used.

ryn: the more expensive oils generally don’t have much oil per pound of material, so it takes a LOT of flowers (or leaves or whatever) to make them, which makes them more expensive. Melissa is one of those. I bought it for a Brain blend that I want to make. Luckily, it only calls for 3 drops in a 71-drop recipe. It’s supposed to help you be calm and think more clearly. It’s also supposed to support the pineal gland and stuff like that. 🙂

Roll about carts are terrific for storing supplies in.

I need a cart for my school stuff. I feel like the bag lady and it gets heavy.

You see those type of carts in use all over Europe. I’ve always wondered why some things that are so practical and useful from “over there” never seem to catch on in the USA.

I need a cart like that! Well, my CDs and DVDs do the same thing with shooting out of my computer and terrifying the cats. I never knew why that started happening.

I like the cart too! ryn: thanks for reminding me that I used to paint! I actually had not thought of that yet. I’m going to get some paints and something to paint on this weekend. (I gave all my paints to my sister, with whom I’m now on the outs! :oO !!) hugs, Nicky

ryn: Thank you. I feel incredibly blessed that I do have so many people thinking positive thoughts for me.

OMG! we are having an attack of fruit flies too:( We have parakeets so I will try the bleach thing for a brief few mins and then leave the vinegar mixture. I’ll read back as to where I’m to place it. Sigh. They were so tiny I thought them fleas even tho we have no pets. Incredibly annoying. ~Elspeth
